I think we’re in for another summer of big spending. I can see us bringing in around £70m through player sales and spending around £150m-£200m on the squad.

That wont happen. Brands: "they want to take the club in another direction".

Tells me all I need to know.

Player sales is key, got to generate some cash and get rid of the vast amount if turd that's been signed

Williams
Keane
Martina
Morgan
Klassen
Sandro
Bolasie

I wouldn't be concerned if all of them were sold even if it's at a loss which no doubt it will be.

Can you imagine that in 5 years time? Having to sell to buy in the coming seasons and with a stadium to start thinking about paying for. Champions League football is way, way out of our reach.

That's why we shouldn't baulk at the idea of a Silva type manager who can come in and make use of whats here and maybe play some decent stuff and retain a top half place in the coming years. The notion we are in the hunt for star managers to get us top 4 is so fantastical it's almost funny.

Oh my god you dont ever stop do you.

I don’t think we’re a million miles behind Arsenal and Liverpool have shown what a good manager can do. They were 8th literally three seasons ago.

He also said that the aim is to be competing with the Premier League elite.

We went out and threw £50m at 2 players in January and Moshiri has already said we’ve got no money worries.

He’s paid Sam £10m for six months work and sacked him. He’s after Silva, who we’re likely going to have to pay £8m for + wages.

He’s also in the process of buying Jon Woods shares to increase his shareholding.

Money is definitely not one of our problems. Getting somebody in who has a clue what they’re doing, aka not Steve Walsh, is going to be the key for us.

Just changed my vote back to pleased, there was a time there this season that I was starting to believe the nay sayers and doom mongers, but I think this week has shown Moshiri is committed to Everton and he will cut loose failure, he may have employed what turned out to be the wrong people in hindsight but he obviously doesn't mess about in correcting the mistakes untill he gets it right, let's just hope that this new structure is competent and we can finally kick on this season

Surely the entire point of bringing Brands in is to get a much-needed grip on the transfer spending juggernaut.

I presume both he and Silva have been given assurances that there will be resources available, but I don't think any business that has just effectively had a gross outlay of what is it, £239m over two seasons to disimprove, is going to sanction that layout all over again, even if funds were available, and I imagine they are not so to anywhere near that level.

Buy young, buy relatively cheap, and sell high surely will be the method employed from now on. I would expect a lot more of the under-23s to go out on loan and for that to become a consistent, if modest, income stream also.

We can't afford to have clubs like Swansea with no disrespect to them holding us publically over a barrel to such a degree that it became obscene. Brands is known for his knowledge of the South American market in particular, so I'd expect a fair amount of signings from lesser established leagues and countries also. That would seem to fit in well with a coach like Silva.
