Are you always this dense? Man willingly wrote checks instead of saying ‘hang about, are you sure we should be spending this much?’
They throw the term "financial due diligence" term around regards prospective football club takeovers and those of other massive concerns etc.. and rightly so.

Its strange for someone like Moshiri not to apply the same to not only the purchases of some of these pathetic wasters/permanently injured invalids were lumbered with now, but moreover, the miliions being spent on their wages, and in some cases the length of their ridiculous contracts and the dubious question of their renewal. Did noone question this...what about the creaking Board ? Surely an overriding duty of care to our Club and its esteemed heritage and status is one of their raison d'etre. And equally, duty of care to US.

I don't know about "due diligence" ..... "due negligence" is nearer the truth.

I'll just leave this here for anyone still defending this money laundering parasite.

Rules are clear...fines with the POSSIBILITY of points deductions...so it's not automatic...with covid and the impact of losing usmanov surely should help us somewhat to make our case for a fine only...with the league giving us some time to fix our finances.

Yeah no, we’re not going to get any favours.

Someone will have to post the exchange for me as I am not on Twitter. From what I've seen from some clippings that people have already posted here, he's claiming to have insider knowledge about an apparent deal that Everton have already struck with the Premier League. Long time readers of this forum are naturally dubious at best whenever the esk claims to have insider knowledge of anything.

Regardless, Simon Jordan doesn't say that we'll definitely get a points deduction, he says its very hard to see how we don't get sanctioned. Which is exactly what myself and many others on here have been saying for months.

We have (or rather, are about to) break Premier League rules, whatever you may think of those rules is besides the point. And Moshiri's monstrous stupidity is entirely to blame.
I guess we will find out, but we are one mess of a football club, the owners and board deserve everything they get for being so pathetically naive. But inevitably, its us that suffer

Yes I don't believe we're nailed on for a points deduction, but it's incredibly difficult to see how we don't get punished one way or the other - and we will completely deserve it.

As clubs are regulated over a three-year rolling period and how they are allowed to amortise players' values over their lengths of their contracts, these rules are incredibly lenient and very difficult for even the most amateurish of organisations to fall foul of.

Isn’t Moshiri an accountant? If he is this is one thing he should be able to sort out ok. No way was he going to risk us getting points deducted, with this issue I trust him to sort it all out ok.

We know we have mesed this up, there is a reason why we only spent 1.7m in the summer, we seen this coming before the press did

I think his strategy was pretty clear, as demonstrated by the last accounts. FFP was met by USM stumping up £30m for the option on the naming rights for BMD. Moshiri knew what the losses were likely to be in this accounting period and how much of a shortfall there would be.

However with planning permission granted and preparatory work started on BMD. Then it would have been a simple matter of USM agreeing a naming deal that would have covered the FFP defecit.

That scenario is now unavailable to Everton after what has happened in the Ukraine and the subsequent sanctions.

So it isn't an accountant we need but a magician.
