Chelsea are receiving bids of 2 billion for their ownership.

If you can get it right, you can get it really right as an investor.

Yet investment is only half the story, if you invest it has to be two pronged, playing squad and increasing broad based off the field revenue. One feeds the other and negates the need ongoing investment. You invest initially to add value to the asset, once the value is added the investment feeds itself. City and Chelsea run themselves these days, despite their owners. This is the ultimate goal, if your doing it right.

Q.E.D.

An Off The Pitch investigation has revealed another company, seemingly with no staff, no active products, barely any assets and whose operating company is registered to a mailbox in London, is a longstanding official partner to Manchester City.

It follows the cancellation last month by City of a partnership with a company called 3Key, after allegations were raised over the legitimacy of the cryptocurrency firm’s operations.

City’s commercial dealings have long come under scrutiny by governing bodies, with City fined €10 million by UEFA in 2020 for failing to cooperate with its Club Financial Control Body.

Wega, which is the name of the company, first signed as City’s “Club’s Official Acoustic Contactless Secured Card Payment partner” in 2015 and extended the deal four years later.

It has been involved in marketing activations with City in the past, but currently offers no products.

The company has also been active in Qatar, where it launched the “eSports World Cup” to run in parallel with this year’s football finals with a purported $15 million prize pot, although detail for the tournament has never materialised and World Cup officials claim no knowledge of it.

Wega’s president, Patrick Moynier, said in a 2019 press statement that Wega was “a Fintech company offering an innovative digital financial platform.”

“Our technology and services will enhance the entire fan experience, and continuously add value with new features and opportunities to get closer to the heart of the club.”

Prepaid credit cards

However, a search of the company’s services reveals that rather than acting as an innovative fintech company, the extent of the company’s products are two pre-paid credit cards, provided under license by Mastercard, and marketed to supporters of Manchester City, and its partner MLS club, New York City. Neither are currently available.

As part of the partnership, in 2019 Wega launched the “Wega City Supporter’s Card.”

Having a plan is the very first thing that should be done. It should be done long before making any staff appointments or any player signings or doing anything else for that matter. It's not about competing for trophies for us, we are miles away from that and any fan that finds that an issue needs to wake up and smell the coffee imo. We need to just concentrate on building a competitive team and squad that compliment each other and are comfortable playing together and actually want to play for the club. When we have this we can finally push on and start looking at moving up the league and competing for cups and European places. Too many of our fans are looking at stuff with blue tinted spectacles on imo.
As for which other clubs have achieved, well Wolves did pretty well under Nuno and now Bruno, they clearly have a focus on younger players, one of the best youth setups (which helps) and they tend to recruit a lot of Portuguese players. It got them promoted, they have finished mostly top half and qualified for Europe. Moyes clearly has a progressive plan going on at West Ham as they are slowly improving more and more. Its not always about winning stuff.

Wolves have won nothing and finished 7th twice.

West Ham finished 6th last season and look to have gone slightly backwards this season as will probably finish 7th/8th. If they dont win the Europa League its been a poor season ultimately.

Yes both teams have had decent seasons but so have we - we finished 7th under Koeman and 8th under Silva.

As I said every team outside of top 6 have good and bad periods / cluster of seasons.

If you cant see that then there is no point debating further as we finished regularly top 6 under Moyes yet still demanded Kenwright went.

Evertonians are not happy with the odd 7th place finish here and there. They are now based on this season but if this season never happened fans were dissapointed with **only** finishing 10th last season.

Years of not keeping up with our peers has meant that is our place now so they need to get used to it and just accept it.

When all those sit on their hands or worse clap when Kenwright comes on the big (it's not really that big) screen you know there's no ambition amongst fans either.

I agree with that mate but its why for me talk of new ownership is crazy at the moment when there are very few candidates out there who can take us to the places most of our fans want us to be.

Look at Chelsea - the only people interested appear to be largely US consortiums wanting to do leveraged buyouts.

The grass isn't always greener. Thats not to say Moshiri doesn't need to improve and take more decisive action in changes that are needed but I'm not a big fan of change just for the sake of it when sometimes that change could make us even more destabilised than what we started off as.

Ultimately its what happens on the pitch that gives owners their approval rating - football fans are reactive, Utd fans only protest at the Glazers when things aint going right on the pitch, its only "GET DEM YANKS OUT ME CLUB LAD" when Liverpool aint winning stuff / spending £70 million on one player and its the same with us, not many slated Moshiri when he appointed Ancelotti and signed James Rodriguez, not many slated the over budget spending when we were beating Man Utd 4-0 to finish 8th or "winning the transfer window".

He's under pressure this season but if we start having a plan this summer with the new DOF and better results start happening on the pitch the criticism will largely dissappear and we can look forward as a united fanbase.

Im not really sure how you can say this unless you are some sort of professional broker of sorts, how do you know who is out there in terms of potential buyers? none of us know what goes on in that bloody boardroom ffs. Also please stop trying to speak for all the fans, thats such an esk thing to do. As we well know there are many of our fanbase that are quite happy just plodding along with a team that puts in a bit of effort and can give anyone a game on its day like under Moyes. Not everyone is gasping for days out at Wembley like yourself (I do understand why though)

I cant say for certain but you have to exercise a level of caution - if we all lived a life assuming the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence then the world would be a bigger cesspit than it already it.

You have a money making CL machine in Chelsea up for sale yet only US cowboys and venture Capitalists looking to make a quick buck are interested - so what makes you confident that some multi billionaire shrewd businessman wanting a project would happily take us on when we are bottom half fighting relegation with a £550 million stadium that needs financing?

I can't speak for every fan but we wasn't happy finishing top 6 under Moyes hence why we wanted Kenwright gone to find someone with the dough to break the top 4 glass ceiling.

We never give managers or new players much of a chance, we are a very frustrated and impatient fanbase. Toss some US cowboys or a Mike Ashley type into the hat and its a receipe for disaster imo.

It is Moshiri’s fault we’re in this position??!?!?!?!?!!!?!?!???!!!??!!

Even if we stay up this season the point stands - no one is buying a football club in the middle of building a new stadium.

Moshiri isn't stupid enough to sell the club for £300 million now when he could get £600-700 million for us once BMD is built.

There is no one out there interested at the moment and the owner isn't interested in selling us either certainly not for the next 2-3 years.

Fans have to accept that and hope he has learnt from his mistakes. From social media chatter Moshiri appointed the new DOF/sought advice from Cahill which suggests he's going to be taking more of a backseat which is what the fans want so lets wait and see what the summer brings.

That sort of shows he hasn't learnt a thing then as lets be honest now (and realistic) what the hell qualifications does Tim Cahill have to be making boardroom/managerial appointments at football clubs? He has done a week long business course at Harvard and people seem to think he is some sort of genius.

Yes, he clearly has.

After appointing a failed manager at the start of the season and handing him full control, he then proceeded to sack him weeks after he allowed him to sell and buy new assets.

After the sacking he then came back with Vitor Pierara as his ideal choice. A man who has achieved absolutely nothing in his career in the last 10 years and bounced around leagues equivalent to our lower leagues.

He’s CLEARLY learning from his mistakes

But it’s not Mosh Man’s fault

Tbf to Cahill he is heavily involved in business/sports in the Middle East / Qatar so he must have something about him.

It comes down to a similiar point many have made on just because a person may be an Alan Sugar in the business world doesn't mean they know much about football in general. So whilst Cahill may not be the wolf of wall street he could be more useful in football terms than some Chairman of some mega US bank who calls it soccer ball and doesn't know what an Everton is.

That was all before the new DOF was appointed DOF / Cahill got involved.

Why? It's a great time to buy a club, the value that stadium adds is big, it's a great time too buy but maybe to not sell.
However if we drop our value plummets, it's a big gamble, hopefully he sells and gets what he can while he has a PL side because championship teams don't go for much
