I don't understand the level of dislike for Elstone. I am not sure exactly what people expected from him.
We didn't have the funds for a new stadium and the club traded competently in recent years within the financial in which it found itself. I expect that Moshiri and his team had a lot of interaction with Robert Elstone during the recent negotiations and they liked what they saw. Otherwise I think we would have seen his role lessen .

As Esk has already said becoming a director is not a huge change to the role/s that he already filled at the club. It is however a big endorsement from our new main man.
The other appointment is much more significant. It is an appointment of a financial heavy hitter. It is an appointment of one of Moshiris allies and further tightens his grip on the club.
As @Esk has already said it may be an appointment geared towards a financial restructure, but it also could be an appointment which could act as a Launchpad for attracting other investors.

Either way, I think we may well have moved onto the A game.

I think it's because he has been involved in the more unsavoury episodes of our recently history such as the DK and other failed proposals, others may feel that it is his perceived dishonesty or misdirection in his answers at the AGM's or even the commercial deals negotiated.

Lets face it his given plenty or reasons

I hope that now we can get a CEO who can really drive the club forward and deliver on the off field projects as well as bring in the required quality to the 1st team to really push on.

New era so let be positive ;)

I remember the Kenwright Joining the board in 89 and us being incredibly unsuccessful ever since.

Apart from the FA cup. But it's a bit like Mick Lyons, loved the club to bits, but we were champions just before he joined and were champions just after he left, with nothing in between......sometimes life is cruel.......

I think those that were hoping for revolution and a throwing out of the old guard will be disappointed but this is going to be evolution not revolution.

The appointment of a senior banker suggests some complex financial structuring ahead which must be related to the stadium - new or redeveloped. That has to be a positive.

It may pave the way for other investors also.

Esk....do you think there is a possibility of a Stock Exchange listing sometime down the line, and would it be advantageous at all?

All about opinions don't know if you remember the peter Johnson era but most on here will and to me with every little money has stabilised everton been moderately successful and quite possibly led US to the promised land!,

True...and if Mo turns out(unlikely) to be a dud, we all know who will get the blame, don't we????

Because the man is a utter idiot.

Signed a deal with kitbag making it out to be massive for the club when it was one of the worst deals in the premier league.

Signed a deal with a fake Spanish firm because he couldn't be bothered looking further In to it

Decided not to cancel the deal with kitbag despite it being woeful.

His commercial deals have been generally awful to a boot.

Do we have a commercial director?

Perhaps hes the opposite of Woodward at Utd? Very good as a CEO and negotiating contracts and transfers but not cool on commercial side?

Maybe we will appoint someone new for that role?

Yes, cos he will appoint who he feels is the best people to do what he wants for the club.

Like the manager picks the team, but isnt in the squad himself.

Pretty sure that the new board member is 'his' man on the board - someone who is their all the time etc, Moshiri as esk pointed out can't be in the country all the time due to tax reasons so having eyes and ears and someone their that you know is top notch is a great appointment, also points to the fact that this is certainly not a vanity project from the big man, more concerned with doing things than being in the spotlight, bodes very well for the future

Also made an absolute fool of himself the only time he presented the Agm, he called out Joe Andeson during it over the proposed new ground site at WHP. Which led to a swift rebuttal from the Councillor, " Show us the money ", which he then couldn't. If we need a site for a new ground then you don't have a very public argument with the guy who holds all the cards. He has also managed to alienate himself from the Everton shareholders and a good deal of the fans as well.
