Invested in the club, won us our last trophy and the ground was improved under his ownership. Three things the next owner wouldn't have dreamed about. Johnson's crime was to run out of money and mistake was sack Joe Royle.

Ecactly.

Running out of money just at the time investment was most needed for us to kick on and keep pace with our rivals across the Park, up the East Lancs and down the Holloway Road.

Then not funding the Tore Andre Flo deal which not only cost us an outstanding striker but led to us losing Joe Royle as manager.

Johnson’s tenure was a disaster for this club.

And all that has happened since stems from it.

I always think of Chelsea when I think of Johnson era Everton.

Sky and the PL are revolutionising the game in the early 90s.

Men of vision were needed.

We ended up with Peter Johnson…. Chelsea got Matthew Harding.

And the rest is history.

In truth we have been on a downward spiral since the day HK packed his bags for Athletic Bilbao - he should have been made an offer he couldn't refuse not to leave. Apart from a few brief periods of hope, it's been a mixture of stagnation and calamitous decisions since then by everyone responsible for running the club.

An absolute tragedy when you think about what could have been.

Looking for a billion pound for us at the minute, Jesus Christ. We're stuck with these muppets for the long haul. Utter disgrace.

I would take anything that monkey mits says with an enormous pinch of salt. The man is a serial fantasist and about as reliable as Boris Johnson.
what kind of person has an affair with their daughter’s best friend whilst their wife is undergoing cancer treatment?

The mad thing is he still gets a pass from sone, if he was at Newcastle, West Ham, Liverpool, United and one or two other they wiouldnt stand for what he has done, but gets a pass from some at Everton. Its out of control and over the last few years he has done nothing to try and fix it

Yes, Kenwright has been an unmitigated disaster. It's only taken you decades to see the light. Better late than never....

When you see how much they paid for Chelsea and the reputed values of Them and Utd, paying 1/4 of that for us inc a spanking new stadium isn’t that unreasonable tbh.
If someone with the money and intelligence to actually have us in the top 6 they could quite easily be doubled imo, top 4 and even more.

I loved Colin Harvey as a player and he played a huge part in the glory years of the mid eighties.
But it was a huge mistake promoting Harvey to manager. In hindsight he was never manager material and it was a huge risk we were top of the tree at that time.

If I remember correctly Colin Harvey was being courted as Leeds United Manager, and he was game. HK and CH may have done a Blair/Brown type deal. I always felt Howard rushed into that move to Spain. Colin was too nice to be a manager, very similar to Roy Evans. It was a period of decline.

Probs, but given how in inventive Everton are, and even complacent, to the point of being totally complicit in our own downfall, we were copying the model across the park, by promoting from within….

Nobody gets a pass over how the club has been run in the last five years but since Moshiri has become overwhelming owner of the club the management has basically been out of control.

I don't know if this is because Moshiri made decisions based on the advice from the Board or made decisions against the advice of the Board.
I do feel that any Board member who genuinely felt the club was being badly run or going against their advice should have resigned.

There is little doubt that we have now reached the cliff edge and no matter what happens regarding relegation we will be a very different club going forward.

The only positives I see going forward are :
The new ground ( this does offer hope for the future , without the attraction of the new stadium I think we would have no hope of finding new owners)

I think at last we have finally made the right managerial appointment in Sean Dyche. We have a manager at last who knows how to run a club like Everton in the Premiership or if needs be in the Championship. I believe, as most I think, if he had been appointed even a month earlier we would be in a much safer position now.

We are finally seeing a decline in expensive players who contribute nothing to the club. Mina leave this summer, Kean is already gone and I think that leaves only Alli, Gbamin and Gomes. Gomes has had a good season and could easily find a permanent move in the summer. The others then are in their last twelve months.

There are some young players that may develop into first team players like Cannon, Mills and Welch and they may save us money in transfers.

These positives however are just straws in the wind of the financial mess we are in.

My feeling is that no changes will happen in the board or in the ownership of the club until the season is finished and survival or safety is secured. Nobody will come in as owner or investor until that is known.
I think we are 100% for sale but as yet until our future is determined then no price can be even discussed.
Keane won’t be going anywhere anytime soon

As you say the complacency at the club at that time was part of our downfall. We didn't fight hard enough to keep Kendall. We lacked ambition , go out and buy Lineker by all means but we should have kept Andy Gray as well I am convinced we would have won the double in 86 if we had kept him.
