I'll openly admit I'm part of the 8% and although yesterday was probably the closest I got to changing it as long as it is just for the transition I'll let it go. If he's here for the whole season (don't see how that happens) or we perform worse then things might be different.

Bottom line is for all the dumb stuff he has done he has given us some hate to say 'good times' (that first half of the Carlo season was probably as much fun as we've had since we won the cup) and he has gotten the one major thing right in the stadium. @Blue peter yes at the moment I'm ready to turn a blind eye to a lot of things I don't like as that stadium is key to our next 100 years. I've seen years of crap Everton teams without the promise we were getting it together off pitch in any way, shape or form. I can handle a few more years for the hope of something better because without his stupidity (or wishful thinking we could be a powerhouse) we'd be staying at Goodison until it was really falling apart, we'd still be struggling financially and probably on the pitch also and then moving to the cheapest identikit stadium possible to an out of city location.
I respect your honesty regarding your vote mate.

In terms of the stadium being key to the next 100 years, we need a team to keep us in the PL in order to try and maximise the opportunities the new stadium will offer. If we get relegated, those financial opportunities diminish hugely and the road back to the PL will become that much harder to travel.

The stadium itself guarantees very little if we're not in the top flight and doing considerably and significantly better at marketing the club to bigger and betters sponsors/advertisers/corporate clients to give us the finances to keep improving the team year on year to become more competitive.

Yep I see why…that’s why I said for some people it is the stadium issue….this is an issue that we have failed at three or four times over a generation, so don’t have an issue if this is the reason why people voted yes. I just look at it all….other owners could have had us building the stadium and kept us competitive in the league which is why I vote no.

But that short term thinking has been the downfall of us as a giant of a club since we last won the league or certainly since the Taylor report and the start of the Premier league. Building a stadium was always going to cause us issues and unfortunately we've done it as at the completey wrong time due to events beyond or control (Everton that). We have been blighted by bad luck (DCL to name but one) and more pertinently the previous two managerial appointments which were shocking. Form is temporary but that thing on the docks isn't, whatever happens it is there ready. Take Newcastle, they went down what 3 times? Always came back and the fact they had several good things going about them including their stadium still opened doors for them.

That's not to say I don't like you and every other supporter want us to be successful first and foremost and this year they need to go out and buy a first choice striker to hopefully enable us to stabilise. I'm not going to panic about the owner because the end game is in sight and as long as we stay in the league I'll probably sit on the pleased side of things as long as he doesn't drag his heels and stay longer than necessary - if the club are still stalling on the pitch.

From my POV I don't think anyone else would have built us a stadium unless we were taken over by a state. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Americans who were going to buy us took over Swansea, got relegated, haven't improved the stadium one bit despite the room to do so. The numbers didn't really make sense to build a stadium for us due to us spending everything we pulled in, it was only the sponsorship by umbrella companies that gave us that boost and very few owners would do that. So some people could look at it that we were incredibly unlucky to end up with Moshiri but to me at least we were infact lucky but with the obvious that we have made poor decisions and we are not where we would hope to be.

You could be right but it has always been a preoccupation for Kenwright that we have a new stadium as far back as 2003 and probably before that, so with the development at Liverpool Waters, and the commercial opportunities that it presents, my view was that when Kenwright did look for an investor it was always to allow him to be kept on but also to build a new stadium. Purely speculation on my part based on those circumstances.

I remember only a month or two after Moshiri had come to the club - there were stories of stadium architects visiting the ground. I just think this would have been a condition of the investment, in much the same way the completion of the ground is the driving force behind this investment. The guys who went on to invest in Swansea probably didn’t have the same need re stadium development as theit ground opened in 2005.

You just hope Andy, with the people coming on board, some will have some expertise in driving up revenues from such ventures.

Yes Swansea's ground was fairly new but it only holds 20k, for 50 million (due to the cheap identikit type build) they could have doubled the capacity if they really had ideas of growing the club. You are right Kenwright probably was looking for someone to build the stadium but had probably run out of time due to the toxic nature of that season he did give way and although the Americans no doubt would have said yes we'll look into the stadium as a priority, their actions since indicate they probably wouldn't have done.

I cannot believe I’ve just read this as a supposedly seemingly serious sentence.

Because your opinion is the only factual one mate? And that is a personal preference thing but if you think otherwise back it up so we can have a discussion.

To clarify it wasn't 80's brilliant but if you go back through the posts at the time, spirit of the blues etc. you'll find most were happy enough despite the fact no one could attend games. Of course it tailed off completely after new year but there was at least tangible hope before that. Let's not forget without that season we'd still be waiting for away victories over Arsenal and the RS for 20+ years or perhaps even 30 in the case of Arsenal. Which is frankly embarrassing and part of the reason why other seasons don't register as we were routinely beaten by the top clubs and you'll never win trophies if that keeps happening.

Compare that season to the next best which was Bobby's 72 points I always felt we were light and would be found out in the end. Moyes CL season was still a slog despite the happy ending which within 3 months meant we may as well not have done anything. Sure inbetween we had runs in cups, 5th place finishes but at no point did I see us as serious contenders.

We had a good run of form, of about 7 games, that’s happened plenty of times since we last won a cup. Personally no, I hated every minute of that season because every time I switched the telly on to watch a game I was reminded that the government were locking us in our houses. Also those “away wins” are a red herring as the only reason our record at those grounds is so bad in the first place is because fans have been allowed to attend games and our players cack their pants. I don’t consider it a real season and would rather it was scrubbed and voided personally.

But whatever that is just my opinion, but what isn’t my opinion is that we’ve had good runs of form in loads of other seasons too, we’ve also finished higher than 10th in those seasons. So really, you need to qualify what was so special and so exceptional about that little mini run of form that makes it “good times”, yet winning 7 games in a row under Martinez in 2013/14 isn’t good times. And getting to cup finals and semi finals and actually qualifying for and playing in Europe under Moyes wasn’t good times. In fact, did I read that right that you’ve just said the 2013/14 was the “next best” AFTER the season when we finished 10th in front of no fans?? You really need to explain this properly because I’m not getting it.

Inappropriate Behaviour

He's the biggest narcissist FB92 has ever come across on the internet - has to be right on everything otherwise he'll stalk you around the forum for years to come - strange chap which is why I had to whip him on egnore.

God knows how Molly puts up with him.

On Moshiri - who knows what his next move is after this so called transition period but I must admit I am curious about his move onto the board which I didnt expect.

You've missed the fact that I've clearly stated in my previous last two posts I said half season. Up to boxing day we had won 9 put of 15 and had a world class manager and our first world class player since Kanchelskis. I can understand how you feel regarding lockdown but that was the first season I had any real hope since God knows when. Just a shame it turned out how it did.

Calling someone else a narcissist when in the same line you refer to yourself in the third person, do you really not see how ironic that is?
