That's always possible, equally if he doesn't get the United gig this year what is he going to do?

So, from Mourinho's point of view, nothing will happen at Man Utd until the FA Cup Final, and the fallout, one way or the other, from that. One morning he might just wake up and think "you know what, stuff them, I'm not waiting".

I know he is interested and we are interested. Personally I think the balance of probabilities favours no as I think he'll be offered the United job despite Bobby Charlton and to a lesser extent SAF's reservations.

Is Jose the candidate that our club favours the most going forward? I appreciate from your other comments that we don't have all of our eggs in one basket on this one. Presumably, the interest being expressed "by us" in Jose has to be a Board endorsed decision following their discussion on the subject and assessment of the best options.

I don't know the answer to that mate - he's not the only candidate the club has a genuine interest in. Don't suppose that answer helps much though, sorry.

Not very often I disagree with the Esk, but for me as long as Baldy Charlton and SAF have major influence at OT, JM isn't getting a serious sniff at that gig.

No need to apologise, blimey if it wasn't for you; it was just whether of the four names in the frame (at that point in time) was Jose the one of the four they wanted the most.

I'd love this to be the case but then why would Jose be in the frame for the United job if Carlton and SAF were absolutely against him - given their stature in the club?

I know what you mean, with the media were plucky little Everton And so on and so forth, not winning anything in 20 years doesnt help.
Everton have changed now, we suddenly gone from being on the dole to winning the lottery, from eating microwave meals to having our own chef, from driving an old A reg larda to driving a farrari.
For Jose the thought of beating Pep, Wenger, LVG and the new Chelsea manager with Everton(plucky little Everton) with money to spend must be very very tempting, nit to mention a 20 goal a season striker
Especially when Usmanov joins Moshiri...

They have reservations particularly Charlton. I believe the Glazers are more pro Jose.

Sadly, I think we're a mere pawn in the game he's playing with Manchester United.

He's using us in a "if you don't hurry up and accept my terms, I'll join them" play. I don't believe he is seriously considering us as his next job.

For their part, United are briefing the press that LVG may get another year, in the hope that Mourinho will drop his salary demands or other contract terms.

I think he's destined to be the United manager next season.

Appreciate it, thanks. Weird hearing that he's genuinely interested.
