Nothing as far as I am aware for the owner of a significant number of shares to negotiate buying another club as long as they sell their shares to an unconnected person. This is after all what Mr Mosiri did.

My argument here relates to the consequences of the idea that it has been a deliberate act by Moshiri to transfer his Arsenal holdings (indirectly through R&W) to Usmanov, and acquire Everton shares in the full knowledge that Usmanov will then dispose of his Arsenal holdings and join him at Everton.

I think it could be argued that in doing so two connected parties are effectively in a position to control or influence two competing clubs which is a clear breach of Premier League rules.

I thought only in specific circumstances.

I could be wrong. It's been a while since of done any exams covering it!

S979 CA 2006 is the relevant section I think mate and there's no distinction made in S974 about private or public companies when referring to the "takeover offer".

So how and when do the rules apply to private companies?

(Genuinely interested)

I think the question needs turning round tbh and that different rules apply to public and quoted companies through the takeover code rather than different rules for private companies. (I'm obviously not a corporate lawyer by the way just relating my own experiences)

For the takeover code to apply, a company must have shares traded on a regulated market.

Anyone else find all this Usmanov talk extremely tedious?

Moshiri is capable of owning this club outright. His deal to sell off his Arsenal holdings to Usmanov worked out in both their interests.

Sometimes the simple and obvious facts are correct. There's no need for any back room dealing or conspiracy.
I find it quite interesting tbh from the Esk and other posters . People can make their own assumptions up about it . I'm just glad we're moving forwards off the pitch now . Hopefully we can move forwards on the pitch now . With United with mourinho I reckon they had to act now to get him incase we snapped him up United know it was do able that's already a statement of intent of moshiri in my eyes !
