Pro's for Rafael:

He lives local...therefore he won't be living out of a suitcase whilst plotting our rise to the rightful place of English football without worrying if his sheets have been changed.
He speaks the lingo.
His CV is impressive...he has won almost every top honour in the game.
His teams are disciplined...expect two holding, sitting midfield dogs patrolling outside the 18 yard box at Goodison to snuff out any opposition danger at source.
He introduced the 'Christmas Tree' to English football.
He wears jeans at the game.

Con's for Rafael:

Age...61, is he really capable of laying down a dynasty?
rs affiliation and that quote.
Can he really build a team? Valencia was Hector Cupor, rs was Houllier, Chelsea he inherited an already team of superstars.
He's going to need to hit the ground running otherwise the toxicity around the place is going to be overwhelming and the pressure on him is going to be unbearable.
He made some really shocking signings at the rs despite some of the gems he signed and spunked an awful lot of $$$ on total dross.
He never did anything of note as a player.

I am not sure about the champagne sipping but I do agree they have made the decision and won't lose any sleep over what the fans think...largely because you really can't keep fans happy anyway.

They will make an appointment they are happy with and deal with fan unhappiness later.
If you wanted someone who is an Evertonian and cares about what fans think then you are about fifty years too late.
The fans are a divided lot anyway and there are different opinions about Benitez. I think that this forum understandably gets more fanatical fans and is not representative of the wider fan base.

I think he would be a safer option than some. He may not set the world alight, but he will develop a competent team.
Morshi can’t afford to take a chance on an upcoming manager in case we get in relegation trouble. He’s been there already with Silva.
He is overseeing a half a billion pound development and needs the team to comfortably stay in the prem, probably with limited budgets for a few years.

The time for exciting gambled has gone. We are treading wateff red for a few seasons until the stadium is here.

Whatever you say.

but the fans did in Martinez, Allardyce and Silva to name but three.

They didn’t, really. In the case of Martinez and Silva it was the crap results and Allardyce was only ever a stop gap, and a successful one at that.
No as I keep saying, and you can go and check it, Moshiri wanted to keep on Silva but his hand was forced by the fans.

Allardyce actually signed a 2 year contract but the fans weren’t having him so he had to go early.

Martinez was the victim of in-game fan protests the likes of which haven’t been seen before or since, so yes they did force him out.

Why are we hiring him?

If it's a short-term hire to get through the next twelve months and try to bleed as many points as possible out of the squad to reach Europe, and all parties concerned know that, sure.

If it's a long-term hire, it's not going to end well because it never does with him.

Before you go for the pitchforks just remember it’s not all bad with Mr Benetez. He did after all buy Abel Xavier off us who to this date is possibly the worst player I’ve ever seen in an Everton shirt.
