Financial Fair Play investigation

Depends on their 3 year cycles.

But very difficult to see how they won't ever breach the thresholds considering the amount of amortisation and wage costs they will now incur on these enormous transfer fees they paid.
I think fwiw they're likely fine to 2022 but to 2023 surely a big problem incoming?

Unless huge sales by end of June 2023 surely they're bang to rights. Especially when the cost of sacking Tuchel and hiring Potter added in.

Imagine breaking FFP for any of these clowns.

If it's solely the 21/22 season as said here, it has us as a net positive here. So is it the Dele signing that's done it?
We deserve anything we get for signing Alli

If Business Expert, Kieran Maguire says it’s down to a signing, then I feel a lot more relaxed. More so than I was already.

If this is the Premier League doing due diligence, then they will see exactly what we’ve paid for anyone, and how it has/hasn’t impacted FFP.

We’ve worked closely with the Premier League, we are run horrifically, but the idea that we’re so careless than it’s even skipped past the PL, well, not having it.

The club have either understated the value of a signing, the PL have misinterpreted it or it’s a non-starter.

Roll on 2-3 year when we’re no longer hamstrung by the ineptitude of this above us.

Well, he did also mention the EFL had punished Birmingham for the signing of Pedersen with a 9 points deduction.

Then again, Everton had been cutting spending in 2021/22 in comparison with previous seasons and already bringing the club back into line with the PL guidelines and the PL were signing off on players for us I think even during the 2021/22 season but certainly this season.

They are all mitigating factors. I really cant see them getting out the nuclear option of points deductions for Everton. More than likely the most that will happen will be a squad cap for a period or capping wages. Even that would be OTT and draconian IMO.

It was amazing that we have been referred by all accounts. The biggest impact on us from all this will be what happens in the next 10 games in terms of focus.

I'll be a lot happier if by next monday night we've taken the points off Spurs and sit on 29 points with another 7 or 8 to get from 9 games.

Bottom line: survive in the PL this season and we'll be fine.

My big concern was always dropping into the EFL. The EFL run a very strict operation, and we could easily face all sorts of sanctions.

Ultimately, the worst of the issues are slowly drifting away due to, as you’ve mentioned, the efforts to bring us back in line with the expectancies of the Premier League.

I think the word “Suspended” may get bandied about when it comes to our punishments, as a warning for us and other teams, and that could be as extreme as points deductions, but I feel it will be more down to a transfer embargo.

But hopefully, you’re right and come 10pm on Monday, any fear starts to wane and we can edge closer to safety and away from the perils of EFL sanctions.

Chelsea just announced a 120m loss because of sanctions.

Does that mean they now will get referred?
Their numbers aren't great, if their lobbing in another 120 mill loss.

Maguire has just said that in his opinion the most likely outcome is a points deduction for the 23/24 season. Assuming we stay up this season, that is.

I didn't gain any comfort whatsoever listening to that.

And they have even more problems stored up from Boehly going tonto particularly with no CL looking likely next season. These mega contracts they are using for their player binge might fudge the numbers a bit but if any of these players flop they are signing up for huge amounts in annual amortisation & wages over 7-8 years, it could cripple them in the end.

The plus side for them is an abundance of academy talent they can sell for good money, but if FFP starts to bite (and the numbers suggest it will) selling will become an obligation not an option.

No, it was bleaker than his tv performance earlier.

He was asked more pointedly here on what he thinks will happen rather than what the possibilities were.

That's food for thought.

If all this plays out we'll likely look at a points deduction of possibly 10 points.

We'll be relegated with that.

5 points MIGHT be doable.

I don’t understand how that fits with his source saying it’s over a single player transfer. If that single charge leads to a points deduction then by that precedent City’s boatload of charges would be expulsion from the league. And that ain’t happening.

They have a conveyor belt of youngsters to sell which helps boost their revenue and that's even before they (try to) offload players like Lukaku. Failing to qualify for the champions league could cause them a problem for a year but even with sales a good manager will get them back in it.

What they do well is montize youth. Whilst we pray Davies leaves on a free they could get 30m for Gallagher without even trying.
