Birmingham and Reading in the Championship especially Birmingham say hello on that.

Harry Redknapp and his input saw spending accelerate, Zola too while Birmingham almost went down twice in the period.

Portsmouth allowed Redknapp to go wild on the back of an FA Cup win. Just like Leeds, took a huge gamble and it failed. This is why FFP came in as it was nearly the death of both clubs.

Just an internet rumour, but I`ve heard, that he stinks of tear gas and his favourite group is Jerry and the Pacemakers.

Don't forget too he helped to nearly lead QPR to a record fine. Not wholly his fault but the Football League wanted to fine them £50-60m, I remember £57m mentioned.

And yet our fat cat darlings the top six almost destroyed the whole league through greed and were all given paltry fines. The narrative then was " you can't punish the fans" , funny that...

All I can say is that any coach is going to want better players to improve the team and keep their job. If those above the coach allow a spend, spend, spend policy instead of questioning how good the coach actually is, then you get these situations. FFP is designed to level the playing field but like VAR, is sadly lacking.

I dont think Everton have been punished proportionately.

We took the pee for 4 years before any action was taken, so yes, I agree. I dont think everyone who breaks PL rules is punished proportionately.

As far as I can tell there is only 1 club in the PL who has an above 90% wages to income ratio who spends money willy and indeed nilly.
