Financial Fair Play investigation

Chelsea are very interesting because they used to go through a cycle over a few years of big loss, then profit. It would balance out at the UEFA let alone the PL level.

However they lost £121.2m despite a £120m plus profit on player disposal and despite amortisation spent so much this season...How will they square the circle and I know that the Covid roll-up helps.

I don't see that they can unless they have a huge fire sale. Since the new owner came in, he's basically put two fingers up to the Premiership and said "I'll sign who I like." Whether his ego is going to be reigned in we'll eventually see.

5 years of spending.webp

And yet our fat cat darlings the top six almost destroyed the whole league through greed and were all given paltry fines. The narrative then was " you can't punish the fans" , funny that...
Other than because of my obvious bias I have absolutely no issue with us facing punishment, if we’ve broken the rules what can we say ? If it was any other club we’d be struggling to contain our laughter at what a skip fire of a club we were talking about .

However your point is the one thing that really irritates me and did at the time . The ridiculous narrative controlling of ‘you can’t punish the fans’ , has applied exactly once in football . When the clubs in question were the scab 6 and the media’s darlings . It didn’t apply when boro had points docked for cancelling a game , when a multitude of clubs faced points deductions and subsequent relegations Of irregularities or even when clubs went pop following the governing bodies sanctions or any of the other myriad of scenario’s . It was the mantra exactly once and although it’s ultimately irrelevant to our current position it infuriates me .

Interested why you are only looking at Transfer fees.

Transfers are not the biggest outgoing a club makes, that would be wages.

Looking at transfer fees alone is a complete waste of time.

The 141m we have spent on players doesnt even cover 1 years wages.

Plenty of folk outside of Everton talking about Chelsea, I haven't seen many making a direct comparison in here mind, I know that doesn't fit the narrative of blues in here desperate for us to be relegated to earn Internet points.

One more to watch.

Man United that bastion of profitability and prudence lost £145-150m pre tax...not during Covid but in their first post Covid season.

Think they lost £34m pre tax in Q1 2022-23 as well...wonder if they may also face issues in the next 6 to 12 months. Then again could depend on interest and or costs being frontloaded, past results etc.

This story says they need to sell players in the Summer to avoid sanctions.

It doesnt say they have already breached the rules.

I dont think we will be relegated, not this week, but I would love some internet points.

At no point did I say it did.
Turnover increased to £481.3 million from £434.9 million the previous year despite the sanctions, and a profit of £123 million was made on player trading.

Chelsea are in BIG trouble.

They have 33 players in the current first team squad.
They have 23 players out on loan.

Im gonna guess that they will be just fine.

mate, we are 100% responsible for the awful situation that we're in... well, I say we I of course me the clowns that run the club.
I do think we're prime cannon fodder. Not too big that the PL risks losing revenue but big enough that we are a story. The Premierleague are looking to flex their muscles and whether that's because they want some sort of precedence set in their pursuit of Man City, and if they've charged us they set a marker before going after City - who they actually want to punish. Or whether they are trying to look big and tough and prove that they don't need independent regulation who knows. Bottom line is though, we are in this position because we've been run appallingly and we only have ourselves to blame
