Financial Fair Play investigation

It's not come from the Independent Commission it's come from a PL source.

e.g. some rube who's seen the PL report or a mention of it in an email and told a journalist.

It only came from the Daily Mail that there was a singular charge and it was in relation to tax on stadium financing at the time of print.

The official PL statement states;

But unlike the Man City statement they don't actually state the specific rule the breach is in relation to. Or if it was multiple breaches in relation to one rule.

Guess it depends on how your interpret their statement.
i would personally interpret that as one charge as it says its over an accounting period. But you are right its open to interpretation.

I am far from sure that there would be any way the individual who leaked such information ( if that’s what has happened here) could be pinpointed. It’s a matter of fact that City had clear evidence that individuals from within UEFA had put information into the publicly domain but to a large degree that was dismissed. think the same would happen here be it by the commission or any appeal / arbitration. There is a possibility it could end up at the High Court

In cases that the PL call summary charges they, the PL, do actually recommend a sanction but not in cases referred to a commission. The commission itself decide the sanction but I do believe that it’s entirely within their gift to ask for a recommendation from the PL as to any sanction.

Nothing would surprise me in this type of a case. Yes it’s feasible that a PL official leaked this but it’s just as possible it’s from either the club or a commission member, stenographer or any other individual if as has been suggested the hearing is in train.

It is worth referring back to the wording that the PL published at the time and it is ambiguous but my take on it is that the one charge covers the four year period and yes there might be an issue with a tax credit & I doubt that the accounting numbers reported by Everton are in doubt I suspect it’s to do with allowable deductions and in that almost certainly would be the COVID sums

If it's over a player then it's got to be James and possibly something to do with wages, nobody seemed to know exactly quite how much he was on and the various quoted sources were give a fairly broad range of numbers. Maybe we were being crafty with the books to pay him a certain wage. This is something City were accused of during the Mancini era.

From Andy Hunter in the Guardian.

It defo wasn't Hamez signing.

It's another quoting tax on loans to the Bramley Moore stadium.

Sky certainly think it’s the 4 year monitoring period . Heres air et quote from their site

“The assessment period for which Everton have been charged covers four seasons from the start of 2018/19 to the end of 2021/22.

My only point is that if there are questions about tax, that doesn’t mean the tax authorities would be involved. They’re often two different sets of numbers for two very different purposes.

I think our players spending has been under enough scrutiny that it would be surprising if there was an issue there.
Well the tax stuff appears to be around the stadium spending, and Im not sure how spending on the stadium fits into FFP...
