Financial Fair Play investigation

Our real problem is what this dos for the morale of our manager and players for the rest of THIS season.

We need full focus on this relegation campaign not distractions over players' futures.
That's probably why they did it now .

It is all speculation. But they'll want to be seen to punish us somehow. The 'somehow' part is the question. A points deduction kills us. All parties know that and IMO would ruin the PL next season. A fine would be seen as weak - especially with City's case coming after ours. An embargo would be manageable.

We need to park this issue as of next week and focus on the real existential danger: relegation this season. Let's hope it hasn't affected the players.

Points have only been deducted twice by the PL = Portsmouth were deducted 9pts for going to administration and Boro, 3pts for missing a fixture.

A point deduction next season might not sink us looking at who's coming up from the champ. It sends us down if it is this year though

If we are so far over then all parties will have known this referal has been coming for many months. Nothing could be done to affect the 21/22 accounts significantly once that accounting period ended. Any spend thriftiness since will just have been done to show genuine attempts to rectify the situation. Presumably we thought we’d shown enough contrition and cooperation to avoid it.

Baffling how the club can be strongly arguing compliance if the numbers are so far out of kilter as presented above. That makes no sense. The accounting profit as audited won’t be argued against. Not a chance the PL (or another financial institution) challenges an audit opinion. The only points to argue are the items that take you from accounting profit to P&S profit.

I genuinely don't think any of this off field stuff bothers the players, manager, coaching staff. Why would it?
Their contracts and salary are bullet proof and lets be honest that's all they care about, so if we were hit hard and relegated they would just move on as they would anyway. if we got relegated by just being crap.
Maybe. But this team cant help but be noticing the unrest amongst the fans, the absence of a board of directors and now a commission into the club that could and possibly will deny them a good chance to have a better season for 2023/24.

I disagree. A 10 point deduction would kill us next season never mind a 20 point deduction. Not even a more stable manager like Dyche could make that up.

No, the commission will KNOW if they deduct points they'll be condemning Everton to the Champisonship for sure in season 2024/25. They may as well just relegate us as it's the same difference.

They have their example at Chelsea. If we're punished more than that then there's no sense to anything. There's no chance we'll get more than Chelsea.

Let's just win 4 more games and sit back and wait for the outcome.

We just hope and i believe we will get over the line this season, then we need to make sure that this board and possibly owner are nowhere this club when we kick off our last season at Goodison park in August.

Completely agree with this, it is crazy to start a campaign with 3 teams going to be relegated and one starting on negative points.

That's really the only dire circumstance that would warrant a points deduction.

I dont think we'll be remotley in that territory.

This has just happened so everyone is running around a bit hysterical over the worst case scenario. That's natural.

However, the real threat this club is the one it's been all season: relegation THIS season.

We need this where it rightly belongs: on the back burner to be returned to when a decision is made.

I don't think they're gonna hit us with a 20 point deduction. It'll probably be 6-12. I think Dyche could get us to around 48 points next season which would give us a fighting chance.

I agree with that but one thing that could be argued is the amount of money attributed to Covid losses

Ultimately it’s all about this. 100%

Esk will write his article, RS media biffs will all say we are doomed. People waiting for the accounts to be published to give answers but they won’t as they won’t show what we are saying needs to be adjusted to go from accounting profit to P&S profit.

There will be zero accurate info coming out until the “judgement”. None. It’s all damaging speculation and guesswork from attention seekers, well-meaning or otherwise. Points on the pitch are all that matter.
