As a performance we never even started, they were quicker to the ball, hungrier for the win and made us look slow and lethargic. Possible we've had a game too far but if we are to get through we must play so much better in the return and that it is a big ask.

Some of the problems that were evident tonight were also there on Sunday but Pompey lacked the skill to exploit them, Fiorentina had no shortage of skill or speed, they were a very impressive outfit. I thank God that Tim Howard had a good night because we could have been five down tbh, he was the only nominee for MOM.

The boss has a lot of thinking to do between now and next week with the match at Sunderland in between. Like most of us I'm down but I have a horrible feeling that it was something bound to happen, have we ridden our luck to much lately, I'm not sure. What I do believe is that come Wednesday night we fans must make Goodison a place no Italian would want to visit. They will play swift counter attacking style so Moyes will have to shape his side accordingly. In six days time we will know the outcome, fingers crossed.

I will now be going in to work and will no doubt be subject to all sorts of stuff from Charlton, Millwall, West Ham (especially after I called them a bunch of [Poor language removed] for capitulating against the [Poor language removed]) but, most annoyingly, from the lone shiteist who will no doubt give me the hand signifying five European titles (not helped by the fact I told him it should be for the position they will finish this season - and still think they will, unless Villa beat them to it)

Ujafulsi got booked in his little "to do" with Pienaar. He got right under Pienaar's skin proper did a number on him I think.

how the hell did Danielli not get booked when he clipped Yakubu's heels that was a shocking decision that ref wants taking out and shooting he was piss poor in my opinion.

Fiorentina played well last night, i really don't know what was wrong with us, To be honest we were fortunate it wasn't more, the defence was all over the place in the second half. Lescott got forward well but there just never seemed to be any fluidity to our play in the middle. We need to keep really tight in the second leg now. If Fiorentina score once then we need to win 4-1, i just can't see that happening unless they get someone sent off and go to pieces.

Poor night of Football but lets look to the weekend, hopefully Sunderland will get us back on track.

Firs post here since the game. Very disappointing. They showed they were a good side and the key difference was the gulf when both teams had the ball. They looked very comfortable on it and we just gave it away to many times. We know we are a lot better than that, it was a really poor night at the office

Looking a real uphill battle now but im still looking forward to next wednesday. Stranger things have happened and an early goal would put us right back in it. I hope there is a full house at Goodison and a lot of noise.
