Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FYLDE CONCEDE THE TITLE

HARROGATE.webp

It was an even game between Harrogate and Fylde but the team in mid-table came out on top with a 1-0 win. The goal came after the Fylde defence failed to clear the ball from danger and Thorne was left to put the ball away. Fylde had no answer after going two up top with Rowe and McFarlane, the latter still suffering a goal drought. After today's fixtures it is now between Bury and Ebsfleet for the crown as Fylde will aim to be the best side in the play-offs. If the lack of performance continues, they won't get past the first leg.

FYLDE FINALLY GET A WIN

Danny Rowe came on as a second half substitute and scored the only goal of the game in a very evenly matched contest. It was a long overdue win for Fylde having gone nine games winless. We now move on to the play-off stage with Fylde awaiting their opponents in either Chesterfield or Wrexham.

Fydle were beaten in the 90th minute when Rai Simons muscled his way past Tom Brewitt and finished calmly into the bottom corner. Fylde had no answer and Luke Young finished off the game with a curling shot fromn outside the box leaving Griffiths with no chance. Duncan Ferguson had this to say after the game.
"First of all, I want to apologise to the fans, it's hard for them to take this after the way the season seemed to be panning out. I accept responsibility for the failure of this season, it lies with me and I failed to turn things around when it mattered."

"Duncan, commiserations but where do you plan on taking Fylde next season, surely you have to go for automatic promotion?"

"As each season goes by, it gets harder. Bury were the best team in the National League this season and it was an underachievement for Tranmere but teams like Tranmere don't stay down there for long. If we are to go for promotion we need to make some changes. Some players here can't handle the pressure when the going gets tough. We have to be resilient and bounce back, it's the only way but I am disappointed."

END OF SEASON AWARDS

END OF SEASON AWARDS 2020.webp

Danny Rowe celebrated winning the fans player of the season award after netting 25 goals in the league this season. Denver Hume won the young player of the season award. The on-loan left back put in a great string of performances during his second season on loan and it must be a priority for him to sign permanently.

What an absolute bummer that is.

Just that spell right at the end has cost you massively

Does Ferguson give it another crack or does he look to move on now?

If a football league job comes up say League 1 or above with a little bit of cash to spend bin them off mate. You've proved that you are quite a shrewd operator in the loan market as well but your gonna be hitting your head against a brick wall if you do another season with them.
