Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FERGUSON HIRES NEW ASSISTANT MANAGER

Colin Woodthorpe has been relieved of his duties with Fylde and former centre forward Jon Parkin comes in to replace him. Ferguson felt a change was required in what he has labelled 'Fylde's biggest season'.

"Jon comes in to his first job in football since finishing his playing career and we've put him on his coaching courses. It's great for him to be involved with us and to be around the first team learning his trade. I'm glad to be back at work, the players are back and we have a lot of work to get through before the season starts. It's a massive season for us and the lads will know what is expected. I'll be speaking to them individually and collectively during the pre-season and if anyone isn't on board with what we are doing here then they won't last here. It's as simple as that now. It's my third season with the club and there can't be any more excuses."

IN OTHER NEWS......

It's not the start Fylde will have wanted as their left winger Joe Cardle is set to miss pre-season training. Fans are hoping this does not have an effect on the course of the season.

feeney transfer.webp

The big news is Fylde have signed young centre back Morgan Feeney from Everton. The 21 year old was growing frustrated at his lack of opportunities within the club and a deal for Feeney was discussed as Duncan Ferguson met with Everton officials back in June. His current deal was coming to an end and it looked unlikely Everton were going to offer him a new one. Ferguson stepped in and snapped up Feeney on a free transfer.

Stephen Dooley signed a permanent deal with The Coasters having spent the last season on loan at Mill Farm. Rochdale were willing to let their versatile winger leave on a free transfer.

If we don’t piss the league this season, Dunc is finished to me. FINISHED

Bit worried about Joe Cardle. I think that the way he plays and at 33, if he picks up any more knocks he's probably finished. I'd love for him to come in rested and able to use his experience to get us promoted- it'd be a great way to highlight his valuable contribution to the Coasters.

Also I am going to hope that Dunc has the requisite experience to keep it a bit fresh at the business end of the season. Otherwise he's just a lower division version of Klopp. Looks the business up to Christmas, and then falls off a cliff.

The injury occurred first day back in training but it's a calf strain and shouldn't impact the season.

I think with it being his third season he is now used to the league and has a decent enough squad to be able to rotate throughout the season.

Friendlies will commence this evening.

Seems like only yesterday when we were looking forward to the start of last season

Did you manage to sort a game with Everton again for pre season?

I enjoyed last seasons where Sandro Ramirez impersonated a proper striker and bagged a couple

FFS. Wanted us to keep him.

Ruined my day this has.

Youngster D'Margio Wright-Phillips joins Fylde after being released from Manchester City. The right sided midfielder is looking to kickstart his professional football career with Fylde.

Max Haygarth was released by Manchester United. The academy graduate was deemed not to have a future at Old Trafford and Duncan Ferguson stepped in securing a deal for the attacking midfielder.

Cameron Humphreys is a loan signing from Leeds United. The Central Defender joined Leeds from Manchester City but failed to make any senior appearances. All in all, Fylde have a talented group of youngsters all determined to make a name for themselves.

Duncan Ferguson rejected a transfer offer from Billericay Town for striker Kyle McFarlane. McFarlane has grown frustrated at his lack of first team opportunities but Duncan Ferguson is keen to keep the player as Ferguson sees him as an important member of the squad. Last season McFarlane managed 4 goals in 27 appearances for The Coasters and it is certainly not good enough. Maybe this is his last chance.

Some shrewd signings once again.
