Not up to the task at hand. Turning water (or worse) into wine requires someone like a Bielsa at Leeds (and even he ran out of mojo at the end of his time there). Frank is a hyped up blagger, with none of those skills. He’ll be sacked by Christmas unless he finds a way to walk out beforehand to protect his fake reputation with his pundit mates. Either way we won’t have to put up with his blame deflecting inadequacy much longer. Only question is who is the next managerial atrocity they will inflict on us?

And what does that achieve when the board and squad is the issue? Continual churn of managers is part of the problem.

Never played professionally etc. But I even can tell you if Keane can't play high line then Tarkowski ain't got hope in hell chance of managing it. That's the worry I take from this.

Keane and Tarkowski cut their teeth at Burnley and always defended deep which is what they're good at. Tarkowski signed more because he was free than because he's the style of defender Lampard would want.

The Tarkowski signing is a strange one as he simply doesn’t suit how Frank wants us to play.

If we had Big Sam here, sure - it would make sense. We’d play with a low block and defend our area with big lumps like Keane and Tarkowski as the CBs.

I worry for next season. We’re a mish mash of a squad with zero identity.

Not going to happen. I actually don’t mind Frank, for a Tory he’s alright.

But he’s not a coach who will make us hard to beat. We’re more likely to win games 5-4 than see out 1-0 nail biters under him.

It won’t achieve anything bar further decline. But we are where we are

This summer will prove what yet another bit of bad planning Lampard will have been by the club.

Why hire a young progressive manager like Lampard who wants to build a squad and then leave him with nothing but the festering carcass of this woeful squad. Should have just got allardyce and accepted the mediocrity we so obviously want.

We’re back to this then, a bad showing in preseason = bad season in the PL. Us having had terrible preseasons and good PL seasons right after doesnt matter i guess.

That isnt really true. The team shut up shop and nicked wins like that. Its what kept us up.

That was a free hit for the manager to get key information about the set-up for the start of the season. Just what we already knew, the squad is lacking a forward post Richy, a midfielder with energy AND technicality( I.e. not Doucoure), and a number 6.

Tarkowski looks good IMO, and as we already know Keane isn't good enough. It will be Tarks and any of Godfrey, Mina, and Holgate this season.

Ideally we'll shift Davies, Keane, and Gomes and bring 3-4 in. Not judging the process yet, but I certainly will be come August 31st.
