….hoping he’s learned from last season but I have my doubts.

A system needs to fit the players you have at your disposal. If you want to change the method of play, you have to transition with new players that fit the strategy.

i fear for his future, I hope we can hang in there safely so he can develop.
The problem is Eggs, I'm not sure that there is a system which suits the squad of missfits that we currently have. There is barely a grain of creativity in the squad without Digne, James and Iceland. We have few players who can make a forward pass that is not lofted into the channels and we have a striker who thrives on crosses playing in a team which has nobody capable of consistently crossing the ball.

I really worry for us this season.

If these players can't go out and impose themselves on a game against an MLS side, then they aren't good enough to play for Everton or to play top flight football.

There is no system that fits these players. There are no tactics that can cover up their weaknesses. I have no idea what you do as a manager, especially now that you don't have the one player who will take responsibility to drive the team forward and carry others along with them.

There isn't so it's back to 343 and hope we can nick things on the break and without Richy that is much harder but that's why we see three at the back we don't have a back four capable of clean sheets and a midfield capable of protecting them. Add in a lack of creativity and threat and we are in big trouble again.

Yes correct its why we needed a clear out it hasn't happened though. The club is a circus led by utter frauds I blame them more than any manager.

As far as I can see, throughout the US tour lampard insisted on Davies where Gomes and Allan are better options.
He didn't play Mina and Tarkowski together (i think) at all.
He stuck with a formation that doesn't work, the players seemed to be disorganized and lack any direction.
I know our squad is crap but it was like they'd never met. There was only one new signing.
I like his passion and he speaks well but I can see why they really pushed for Anthony Barry to help out.

Allan is still coming back from injury isn't he? And Gomes is the biggest waste of space in our squad. He's consistently shown he is neither mentally or physically up to the premierleague's standard.
To be fair I don't think Tom Davies is any better either.
You are spot on about the never met thing. I've never seen a team of professional footballer at any level be so poor at the basics as us. These are premierleague footballer... many are internationals but they struggle to string 3 passes together.

He can say that, but I don't think it'll be enough to inspire a team of any particular quality to take a chance on him.
I used to think that, but then look where our underachieving managers of the past have ended up. He'll be fine, regardless of his tenure. The club however, will not.

We're going to drop like a sinking stone, regardless of who's in charge. I can't understand how the board saw last season and haven't acted swiftly. We've known that Richy was going to go for years, we've known that Rondon is the back up striker etc etc. Yet no plan? I'm terrified.

That is one of the main problems zero creativity in the squad plus a p poor defence and midfield and forward. No creativity and leaking goals is a recipe for disaster

oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't think Gomes is the answer but he strikes me as an iwobi type, there's a good footballer in there somewhere.
Davies, who I really wanted to succeed, is just a lad from the park who snuck on to the bus and everyone thought it would be funny to keep playing him.

Allan is injured.

Gomes was probably the worst performing player since Lampard took over. Some of his performances were absolutely abysmal, and totally unacceptable.
