2021/22 Frank Lampard

Benitez had from August to work with them and shape them, and also got rid of our two most creative players, while blaming everyone else but himself.

That’s the difference.
The mistake that did for Benitez was not chasing James Rodriguez and Lucas Digne out of the club. It was chasing them out of the club while keeping the likes of Iwobi and Gomes - two players who were every bit as expensive and over-paid and far less contributive.

Had he gone for an all-out clear-out, and succeeded in removing the dead wood along with the private jet set, he might still be in a job.

Sadly Frank will not be here long...nor will the next manager...nor the next. The players, our brave, brave band of brothers have downed tools yet again
The fans are behind Lampard. We know it’s the players that are useless.
We need to stick with him 100% and ride whatever problems we are stuck with for the moment. This club needs stability so much. The owner has caused so many problems here. We were desperate for another centre back but because of Moshiri arsing about, the transfer window was virtually over.
Sometimes in life you need to take a step back to move forward.
Hopefully we stay up and Frank can work on players coming in and shipping out the rubbish and injury prone players.

Same team also beat Brentford and Leeds, something Benitez couldn’t earlier in the season. Find a way to sort the away set up and we’ll be fine
You dont have to convince me mate, I'm on board with the manager. I wont be the one you have to convince to stick the course with him.

Amazing isnt it?

Was all Benitez's fault

Now its none of Lampards and all these spineless players of ours

:hayee:
I actually can't fault Lampard at the moment. He's still learning the players. Trying to find his best available 11. We have too many Jekyl and Hyde players.

Gomes single handedly dragged the entire team down to the point people didn't actually want to pass to him.

I just pray we stay up and the club actually makes some ballsy decisions for once. Tell Keane he isn't good enough or will be a squad player and a new CB will come in. Say goodbye to JJK thanks mate, but we can't offer you a new contract.

Tell Coleman, it's time to wind down into being a squad player.

Tell Gomes he's no longer part of the plans.

Decide between DCL and Richarlison because it doesn't work with them both out, as it takes a spot away for creativity.

All sounds easy for me to say, but try actually doing that in a club without completely tearing morale in a dressing room.

At the end of the day, If this result was the 11th game of the season, there wouldn't be half as Much fume. We have a free shot next week against city as no one is expecting anything whatsoever

So let's have a good go at ingraining some defensive responsibility into the team and just try and play our way, because what do we have to lose in this next fixture? Might as well go and try play a good game, if we sit back it's just a battering ram.

Agreed...but you just KNOW if we lose the next two (likely) we'll see a Lampard Out campaign on these forums.
We really can’t be calling for the manager. That would be ridiculous.
We need to stick with Lampard whatever happens. Stability is what’s needed here. I think and hope he will sort us out but we just need to stay behind him.
The training pitch is very important at this stage and he has a good back room staff behind him.
Here’s hoping.

Needs to stop trusting this lot.
They are bottle jobs nearly to a man , show absolutely no leadership and dont even have the professional pride to rise above the dross on offer
Needs to be a bit more pragmatic in his approach to the away games.
We have been on a relegation scrap since before Xmas, anybody that's been there before could see it .
Hopefully we stay up and clear most of this lot out.
It's going to be a hard job.

The issue is our fanbase largely never gave the last manager a chance from the get go and its created a poisonous atmosphere around the place which our spineless players have taken advantage of and put their slippers on as they knew the manager would take the heat from the fans.

The mental gymnastics is astounding at the moment, a few examples:

Simon Buttle correctly states anyone hounding the manager oot at this stage is a fool - yet plenty on here including Kev The Rat, Marius, nsno Christopher etc were doing just that after a pre season friendly defeat away at Old Trafford.

BlueToff and many others hammered Benitez for not playing 433 - they haven't had any issue with Lampard over it.

Fans fumed when we played Coleman at LB over Digne yet Lampard yesterday selected an even worse RB in Kenny to play LB over Mykolenko an actual LB - nothing said !!

Some of our fans either cant see it or choose not to see it but they have blood on their hands and they need to repent for their sins imo.

But Lampard has 2 wins out of 2 at home, dominant home wins at a happy Goodison. Benitez isn't here anymore.

Once survival is secured then it's build for next season so we can get back in the right half of the table again.

I said when he started that FL will have earned the whole of his contract deal by keeping us up.

He has a massive struggle on his hands, and if the fans desert him we (and he) are toast.

They haven't killed someone mate.

But in Lampards defence he selected Kenny on merit which I'm fine with as he was good Leeds, but he's proved he can't do it consistently and that for me brings Myko back.

As I said he's still learning this squad. Not point getting on his back - everyone should get a clean slate under a new manager

He said exactly the same thing as Benitez did 4 weeks ago. Except, then he gotblamed for being too agressive, not supporting his players or putting some blame on himself.

If frankie cant do that after just 4 games, well, championship here we come.
Never heard Benitez once say anything remotely like what Frank said yesterday, Benitez didn't have a clue and i mean not a clue what the problem where.

He just said when we get our players back from injury we will be better, he even said we did well at the start of the season, which was a joke

I think every fan wishes Lampard success. We have no alternative now. His position is rock solid until the summer, at least. However, there's a difference in sincerely wishing him well and thinking he is the right man for the job. I don't think he has the record for the job - but I hope he has some intangible quality, whether that is charisma, respect as a player, or contacts or whatever, to prove me wrong. Nor do I have an alternative who I am certain would do better. So it is what it is in the situation we find ourselves in. If he can galvanise us like he did against Leeds for the home matches and grab a result away at Burnley and Watford, it should be enough to get us safely to summer. Then the harder, longer-term part of the job starts. And then it'll get really interesting...

I hold no special loyalty to Lampard other than he's Everton manager and will get it 100% - just as all Everton managers will from me. I'll give him time.

The team is the issue though. Guardiola could come in here and that lot would ruin his CV in 3 months.

Point 1 - people were against it because of his past but were willing to give him a chance and were backed up with the early season form, once that dipped with zero signs of change, things turned

Point 2 - Benitez stuck with a 2 man when everyone knew it wasn’t working because he’s stubborn, Lampard hasn’t much of a choice because the key player to work in a 3, Doucoure, was injured when he arrived

Point 3 - Coleman was played there out of spite to the team’s detriment, Kenny was played there because Mykolenko had COVID and kept his place because he played well last week
