2021/22 Frank Lampard

Tuchel is getting called out for them being shot shy too.
The thing about Lampard is, he was a midfielder who made his name from taking shots at any opportunity. 30 yards efforts every time we played against him and if it didn't fly into the net, it ping ponged off of someone and created a chance.

Fat Sam? Absolute madness.
The manager is not the issue here. Has become pretty clear no-one was keeping this team up.
I think it is actually. I'll risk the assault of laughter with what I am about to say, but these players are probably good enough for a top half finish.

The team has failed this season because there is a whopping mental fragility present. It was evident when we threw away a lead on Wednesday as it was last season under Ancelotti. An inability to close games out when leading and repeating the same mistakes over and over. There are other reasons, alot of them, I don't pretend it's a simple or quick fix, but the players need a manager who believes in them and I'm not sure if the current manager does.

Whether it's worth changing the manager again with so short a time left is arguable. I suppose it depends on if fans think Frank will deliver in the championship because that's where we are headed currently. I'd personally give the job to big Dunc now (who I have to say was very dignified in becoming the clubs chief ball boy on Wednesday night which must hurt him alot). He needs to take on the reins or leave because it's bad for all concerned.

I know loads will disagree with me, but this season will define players who actually have shown they are good players in years past. It shouldn't. Loads will have to go if we are relegated because the clubs finances will be crippled and the new stadium will be put on hold indefinitely. What's needed from the board room is sound financial management and to stop giving out fat contracts. The whole wage structure needs to be upended. Fans need to recognise there is no short term path to getting back on track. We need to be super stingy, buying (and selling) young prospects to build a better club for the future. Relegation will mean we are forced into this, but we should do so even if we stay up. There is no point in dancing around this any longer. The road is a long one to recovery financially as well as to deliver success. At least 10 years. I just hope someone grasps what is needed.

Only possible saving grace might be that Leicester, Brentford and Palace will have nothing to play for in our games against them. All easily safe, but no chance of Europa League. Win them and we're safe, but easy to say that when we have won only 7 games this season. To expect to win 4 from 9 after the form we've been showing is nigh on stupid in my opinion.
Problem is we only turn up against the bigger teams. Playing mid to lower peeem league teams and we just can’t be ar sed. So largely plucky Everton will no doubt look like a football team for a bit on Saturday only to be unlucky. Then normal service will resume when we play palace or whoever.

Down the plug hole we go..

I do struggle in how you are impressed by him.

Sadly there is no evidence of him being a manager that can adapt to situations and improve us

I may sound harsh here, but the impressed comment sort of made me react negatively
Our performances have improved a lot under FL , we have dropped several points since he came because of individual errors and mistakes made by players and he can hardly be blamed for that, even last Wedneday we saw it happen again.
He arrived with one day of the window remaining six weeks ago , had the option of one loan deal only( Van De Beek) and I think the Dele deal that was something cobbled together as an extra bonus for him which clearly has not worked so far.

Imagine coming into this, after having your best attacking outlets sold and the cultists demand you turn it around.

Words can’t even lol

The manager makes a huge difference. If Carlo is here, we are probably top half. That isn’t saying much and the team needs to improve drastically, but let’s not deny that Rafael was abominable and Lampard is inexperienced. There are multiple reasons we are where we are. It isn’t just the players.

Eish it jusht the playersh?

Probably like him more than any manager we’ve had since Moyes along with Carlo (before he shafted us). Will be a travesty if he is failed by these players. I genuinely think if we can stay up he’ll stop at nothing to make us a good team again. He’s ready to fight for us rather than the vibes I got from Koeman Silva Allardyce and sometimes even Carlo who just saw it as a job for them

The results have been miserable under Lampard, and there are already rumors (after 8 games) of unrest among the players. The same thing happened at Chelsea, and was not particularly well-liked by the players there. Tactically, he appears as Gary Neville did for Valencia, and struggles to adjust to the opponent's move. Something he also struggled with at Chelsea. But some supporters believe that this is a great opportunity for Lampard to learn, not as most other managers do (in lower divisions, or as an assistant, etc.), but in one of the most traditional and successful clubs in England when it faces perhaps the darkest chapter in its history.

I like how he handles himself and how he talks about the club and I like that he wants to play good football.
Results so far have been abysmal overall though and we’re running out of time for that to change.
Don’t think a Fat Sam type could do any better though - we’re losing every week from individual errors and every ‘kin player is doing it, Kenny, Keane, Holgate, Godfrey, Iwobi, Pickford they’ve all given goals away that we’re avoidable since Franks come in and that’s so hard to deal with.
