2021/22 Frank Lampard

Probably like him more than any manager we’ve had since Moyes along with Carlo (before he shafted us). Will be a travesty if he is failed by these players. I genuinely think if we can stay up he’ll stop at nothing to make us a good team again. He’s ready to fight for us rather than the vibes I got from Koeman Silva Allardyce and sometimes even Carlo who just saw it as a job for them
Frank has that desire for sure (and I disagree about Silva- he cared a lot about the job). Koeman saw us as a stepping stone and Carlo was using us to put himself on the market. I’m not sure passion is enough though if he can’t adapt and grind out points. This squad isn’t good but it isn’t relegation worthy by a long shot. Can’t just blame the players

Uncle Harry is on record as saying he recommended Alli to Lampard.

"Well yeah course, trific player, trific lad, trific talent. He's got the world at his flip-flops. Trific car, not sure about the jeans or the barnet but yeah, trific player."

Why do fans always go on about how passionate a manager appears to be.

The modern game is all about how tactically aware and how good a manager is at coaching his players. Lampard unfortunately fails on both counts.

Surely the most pertinent question would be why would Redknapp be recommending players to Lampard if Lampard had no say on transfers.

Suffice to say I don’t believe such utter drivel. It was a Moshiri panic buy that they’re trying to cover up. Bollock face has probably took a bung to pretend he recommended him.

The results have been miserable under Lampard, and there are already rumors (after 8 games) of unrest among the players. The same thing happened at Chelsea, and was not particularly well-liked by the players there. Tactically, he appears as Gary Neville did for Valencia, and struggles to adjust to the opponent's move. Something he also struggled with at Chelsea. But some supporters believe that this is a great opportunity for Lampard to learn, not as most other managers do (in lower divisions, or as an assistant, etc.), but in one of the most traditional and successful clubs in England when it faces perhaps the darkest chapter in its history.
So true. Can imagine him in years to come looking back on his Everton days, shaking his head and laughing that he was young, naive, inexperienced and made mistakes. He’ll probably say, can’t believe I did that, would do it totally different now.

Not much use to us now though, its not funny, we’re right in the thick of it and Frank’s literally learning on the job and making his mistakes at the most perilous time in our history.

If Burnley were a one off, fair enough. We have not turned in two truly decent Premier League performances with Lampard.

To Lampard's credit, he battered a hapless Leeds. The only other time in his 9 matches in charge that Lampard's Everton had a superior xG was against Burnley, only due to their players putting in stupid challenges to inflate our xG with penalties.

Newcastle 3.21-1.12 Everton
Southampton 2.69-0.30 Everton
Tottenham 2.86-0.22 Everton
Everton 0.38 - Wolves 0.75

Even the Newcastle home win:
Everton 0.77 - 0.95 Newcastle

Evidently worse than a manager everyone (including myself) agreed needed to be sacked.

Only a comment but our performances and league position would suggest that the players are not as good as we think they are. I've said exactly the same as you a number of times about the squad not being relegation worthy but the way this lot have been performing suggests otherwise.
