2021/22 Frank Lampard

I was really hoping it would work out for the fella and I still remain hopeful to a degree. I’d be devastated if we got relegated and disappointed for him because I think a number of the fan base will turn on him and I get it but I strongly feel this all goes above and beyond him , not saying he’s faultless of course but it’s a collective situation.

That Brentford cup game, the build up with the hotel pics, the fans taking to him , the atmosphere at that match to welcome him, it was a relief to genuinely feel some hype and positivity.

I know he’s well off, will be alright regardless, I just want him to do well. He seems sincere in his interviews and I’d love for him to be a success here.

Hi everyone, Chelsea fan here (yes I know we're skint before you all tell me). I was interested to see how Frank would get on with your lot. Sadly it looks like he's out of his depth. Want him to do well, obviously. Looked out for your result tonight (after our game) and things look bad. This is all new territory for him, and he's up against a lot of good coaches, in a tough league.

If I'm honest it's not a surprise. I understand why he took the job. It's a big club but I don't think he'll be getting another big club if you go down. I never thought for a second you'd go down, there were too many poor sides around you, but 7 defeats in 9 (or whatever it is) is bad.

At Chelsea he never picked a settled side, he never knew his best formation, his best striker, his best centre-backs and so on. We got some good results and he didn't do too badly in his first season but we never played with control. At Chelsea, with the calibre of player, you need to be controlling games. We also conceded loads. He was just tactically poor.

Man-management also. Poor. Got on the wrong side of players. Rudiger, Alonso etc. Players seem to regress under him. He always blamed the team for defeats, questioning their commitment and mentality rather than his tactics. Once it started to go wrong in the second season, he couldn't turn it around, the players looked lost and confused.

His explanation for defeats was always about lack of commitment, about the second ball, about courage etc. He couldn't get a grasp on what was going wrong tactically. He just didn't have the answers. You could see the stress and the pressure getting to him. I fear the same is happening now.

Feel bad saying it because it's Frank but I wouldn't bet against you going down. Hopefully he can turn it around. I was happy when we appointed him and sad when we sacked him although I knew it was the right decision. The Chelsea job was too big for him (with the expectation) and the Everton job looks too big for him (the pressure of keeping you up). Very risky appointment. The position you were in, you needed a safe pair of hands, or someone with a track record. Easy to say that now I suppose. Anyway I hope I'm wrong and you stay up. See you all for the game at Goodison.

Just quoting myself in case any of you missed it. I posted this three weeks ago. Want Frank to do well but he didn't really impress at Chelsea. Having said that, we've had some pretty good managers so perhaps he was always going to compare unfavourably. You're bang in trouble but I've no doubt you'll play a blinder against us at Goodison. Thought the ref totally bottled it today. Looking at the run-ins, I think you'll get more points than Burnley.

I think the vast majority of the fanbase are behind Frank and I certainly am.

The board and hiring of the FSF are the cause of this mess. If we do drop then I think Frank is the man to bring us back.

For that reason I don't think we should be comparing them anyway.

In Lampards 10 games only 1 team has picked up less points. In that time we've also scored the least amount of goals (level with Brighton).

Sometimes got to change there or we're down.

At the risk of going around in circles...

...what youre saying is true in the most part.

But you menion "somethings got to change", yet surely it did change?

As I said before, prior to the weekend we were 12th in the form table (6 games) and now were 14th.

Red cards, dodgy (non) VAR and referee decisions as well as open goal misses cant be blamed on the manager. Not to mention some shocking defending.

If we now get the 3rd best results in the league for the remainder of the games, would it be on Lampard if Burnley + Leeds are 1st and 2nd in form?

He can only get results which, by being 12th/14th in form he is doing.

Must have one of the worst records of a new manager coming to a team in the league. The new manager bounce has actually taken us backwards and relegated us. Everton that. lol

Did that change solely under Lampard or did that die off after Moyes?
Your spot on there mate, went after Moyes.

Remove political motives so and so forth, he was and still is the best option at the time. We fans tend to turn on the manager too quick. In our instance it's the board who have ruined this club.

Spending 100mil. Wood has barely done anything and Trippier got injured a few games inn. The midfielder they bought looks the bollocks but their other signings have barely done a thing.

Brought in an experienced CB, a left and right back. Now they barely concede (1 goal in 4).

We didn't.
