2021/22 Frank Lampard

Article in the Athletic today about all the teams in relegation scrap. The journos seem to go hard on Lampard. The 'Benitez would have come good as usual second half of the season' and 'they were 6 points above the drop' quotes are out in force.

I think if Benitez was here we would be gone. We were sinking like a stone. He wasn't getting the results against Leeds, Newcastle or Leicester.

Lampard has made mistakes but performances have improved - not dramatically but we look better and like we have some form of plan.

Yes, if Lampard had come in and got us to 8th we wouldn't sack him for it.

If Benitez had us 8th, we wouldn't have sacked him.

So Allardyce getting us up to 8th and then sacking him was unjust.

I can't write it more plainly.
Whilst your point is kind of correct, Allardyce didn't get sacked for finishing 8th. Far from it, he was sacked for the unbelievably terrible football on display. He may have been using the tools he had finding the best way to get us away from the drop zone, who knows, it doesn't really matter. Allardyce was sacked for being Allardyce - Mr Anti Football - we have to be careful what we wish for because look where we are, and the potential to fall out of the premier league. I think we will, possibly may end up like Charlton when they sacked Curbishley for finishing mid table each season.

No one wants Allardyce at this club with the football he plays, end of.

Am I for real? Ha ha. By your logic if it is all on the players we should never have sacked Benitez.

Lampard was hired to keep us up. We were not in the relegation zone. If he fails, he will be punted into the Mersey. And rightly so.

It's not that we have to stop sacking managers. It's we have to stop appointing useless managers. With this board, though, there is no evidence this cycle will be broken. Their latest choice is already in the danger zone.
Give it a rest mate. Have you not being looking at the pressers. He says the right things. Get your head out of your rear end and stop looking at the table.

They don't have to be though, they're both 2 reliable PL performers who can be counted on week in/week out to do a job, steady eddie types and something which we lack.
Nobody knows who Benitez had planned to bring in during the January transfer window, he didn’t want the winger from Villa, not sure who was responsible for the Patterson and Mylolenko transfers, doubt if he would have Van de Beek or Delli Alli so we’ll never know how we would have fared if Benitez had stayed.

Agreed. But he was the wrong choice even though he has actually won things as a manager in the game, unlike Lampard who has just been plain lucky to get the jobs he has.

I recognised Moshiri's insanity with his appointment of Lampard, a "name" with zero record. A PR appointment that will end in tears.

I hope he stays at the club for a decade

Benitez still has pet journos, who are terrified of saying anything bad about him, just in case he gets another job in English footy and blackballs them.
