I should have left the possession part out. The intent was to say I want to see us not spend long periods deep and defending while simultaneously not actually being able to effectively break.

Essentially I want to see us play a more complete game. If that's a counter attacking style fine, the attacking still has to be better for me.

Of course it does. We don't have Dom and have nobody to create anything since we got lost our two attacking midfielders last year.

The last 4 games we have dropped the likes of Keane, Kenny, DCL, Allan is not starting every game, Gomes is nowhere to be seen and its seemingly made a difference. I think Frank has sussed out who he can rely on now and he has made the changes he needed to.

Allan is fine but you can't play him with Delph and Iwobi against a team like Leicester and expect him to look great, which is why I think Frank got it wrong v Leicester.

DCL would be playing if he was fit. He isn't fit. We're still a better team with him in it if we need a focal point because that allows Richarlison to play wide and be more involved in the game. Think there's a case that at home Richarlison should be the striker for the pressing and away we need DCL because it means we get Richarlison's ability to drive with the ball.

The other two are liabilities tbh

I can watch American football, grid iron, or whatever it is called, I can enjoy it and I have a rough idea of hat the rules are. Do I have the same understanding of it as an American who has grown up with it? Of course not, that's why I wouldn't dream of going on a grid iron team's forum and attempting to tell the teams supporters that I know better than them.

Not correct. Despite all of Chelsea's possession their XG was lower than ours so their possession didn't result in higher number of quality chance. What is likely though, if we increased our possession then we would have at some points lost the solidity of our formation resulting in gaps for Chelsea to take advantage of with their superior players.

I read you TBL, but we are in a very precarious position and not exactly oozing with confidence, therefore, some caution is paramount. Keeping shape and closing players down and denying them space and not leaving gaps for them to have clear runs at our defence is vital.
We can use the close season to perfect a more fluid style of play for our first Premier game this coming August.
