What works, works. His time for experimentation and trying to pin down a defined way of playing with a poor group of players he inherited in a bad situation is not now. That can come next season. He has tried to play quicker, more open passing football on the front foot and it yielded poor results.

He tried a system and realised he doesn’t have the players to do it, only a madman would continue if it’s not working. Technically they probably could but once we went behind they reverted to type.
The only thing he can do is find any way to get the points we need.

You’d have to be a very strange person to be happy to be relegated as long as the team played a certain way.

I have a lot of reasonable discussions here. I'm not talking down to people because we disagree, I understand why people think Lampard has done well, I understand why people think he should stay, I just don't think that.

Most English football fans understand football.

Thats the difference from customers. Cos being a football fan in England, well, the UK, is sommet you just dont understand. That isnt a dig, far from it, its just a fact.

That is why the Chelsea performance resonated with Evertonians, and would have done with any fan of any team. Its feral. Its real. Its unscripted.

In most towns and cities here, the football is the all. Liverpool more than most. So, we see an Everton team giving it everything, with a manager loving the Goodison experience, in the Everton way. You see data and stats and stuff. You aint bad for that, nor is it a surprise, but its why some here get a bit "chippy" being told what to do/think after decades of doing what is what being a football fan is all about.

Lampard gets that.

Wow, this thread is an absolute bin fire. Big Igg and Dave really do hate absolutely everything about Everton apart from, bizarrely, Alex Iwobi and Rafael Bloody Benitez respectively.

If Lampard keeps us up he deserves the opportunity to put his own team together (rather than manage the leftovers of a succession of bad managerial and playing staff signings), a summer to properly drill that team in the style of play he wants from them (rather than being landed in a pile of crap on the last day of a transfer window) and genuine support from the fans and the board through what will likely be another difficult transition. It is telling that some of the very same posters who made a huge song and dance about giving Benitez time and that revolving door managers is bad for the club are the same people wanting Lampard out of the door. I can only assume they are long term satirists.

Who wants Lampard out? Anyone suggesting a managerial change this summer is ridiculous.
