2022/23 Frank Lampard

The lack of even half-decent attacking personnel is the problem.

Everything comes down to our abject performance in the final third, and that is entirely down to the players available.

All sorts of things have lead us to this place, but I’d rather stick with a manager who has got parts of the side sorted out, rather than binning all that and starting fresh in a January window that will be panicky enough as it is.

There are no good options, but I don’t peg this on Lampard.
There is a lot of sense in what you say. I do thiink his weakness appears to be the fact that he is continuing to try and play oin a style which the players at his disposal do not seem able to apply resulting in us becoming slow in attack and too predictable As I recall Carlo realised this and changed things to ensure we remained in PL.

Several new players who require time to bed in are needed for us to have any success in the current pattern of play

The team is devoid of an identity and any ideas from front to back which is completely down to the incompetent idiot managing them. He could have Messi and Mbappe and wouldn't know how to use them.

I know he wasn't in any way backed, but he spent £75m-odd in the summer.
£33m Onana
£15m Maupay
£20m McNeil
£5-10m Gueye

That's not at all defending the board as they've been horrific and are mostly the reason why we'll get relegated, but Lampard alongside Thelwell spent all of the money absolutely horribly.

Couldn't have got it worse if they tried.

Gueye was a free mate, or a couple of million.

Just as if getting 2 decent attackers in January is going to magically solve all of our problems. We have conceded 11 goals in the last 4 games and no amount of attackers is going to resolve that. They will need to be scoring 5 a game to have a chance. He is trying to get a group of mediocre players to play the same way as City do and then wondering why it is going wrong. He has one of the best defensive midfielders in the league renowned for his tackles and protecting the defence running around all over the show and often higher up the field than the striker and then wondering why we are leaving gaps at the back. None of it is rocket science, all of it is poor management.

Just a very amateur manager who might be good one day but needs years of experience to reach that point and that experience will include relegations if he is allowed to continue gaining it at Everton.

Dyche is the answer I think. To a horrible question. But the answer nonetheless

So in rhe cold light of a new day, I have come to the conclusion that I need to see a different formation and set of tactics from Lampard. He is not licked yet, but the fat lady is warming up her vocal chords...

He needs to show / acknowledge that the players he has cannot play the system he has been trying.

Our wingers are killing us because they are so ineffective. We need to be more solid and direct. I would like to see a 4-3-1-2 with Onana, Gueye and Doucoure and Iwobi in the hole. Then 2 strikers in front. Whether Maupay and DCL, Cannon whoever...

Our width needs to come from full backs getting forward. Doucoure and Onana need to drive into the box to support. Sick of Gordon, Gray and McNeil and want to see Maupay as a second striker which is his most effective position.

Show us some tactical nous Frank. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity..
