If it does come to it and we do end up pulling the Trigger then we really do have to give full reigns to thellwell on the replacement.

I know this isn't likely with us, but if we don't we may aswell send him packing at the same time cos why else is he here if he cant do his job.
( brands all over again )
I'd have said the same in the past but I remember seeing an interview with Dan Ashworth (widely regarded as the best DoF in the country and at the time at a club said to be among the best run) and he said that wasn't part of his remit.
That's a huge part of our problem though, we are more worried about a manager "connecting with fans" than if they can actually do the job or not. Maybe if we start actually looking at people who can do the job as first priority.
Nah, nobody would be bothered about them connecting with the fans if they were actually good. That only becomes important to people as a comfort blanket when there's nothing else to hold on to - basically if we're going to be rubbish then fans would rather we were rubbish with someone they like in charge than with someone they don't. They'd definitely rather be good though.

If we get a similar lack of effort and commitment to Tuesday then we can confirm he has lost the players for me.

It's not just about the result, although the result always matters of course. It's also about performance levels and Tuesday was totally unacceptable both tactically and in terms of basic effort and commitment.

Frank is a good guy but there is very little evidence he is the right person - he averages under a point a game which is relegation standards. There is also no example of an Everton manager in this dire situation turning things around. Personally, I think he's finished here, and tonight could confirm it.

But this has been the case with Everton for so long. The effort and commitment was there against city. You could almost write the script it would change against Brighton. Look lets not kid ourselves. Tactically we have one go to option. Sit deep and defend. What the hell is any Everton manager supposed to do with the likes of Tom Davies or Dwight Mcniell. We're a 5 at the back and close down space team.
This is what scares the sh!t out of me for the rest of the games. There is virtually zero tactics wise with this lot going towards goal. I thought the effort in the first 45 mins v Brighton was there. But the quality isn't. 2nd half Brighton just came out and went bang, this is why we're a better than you. We can put in effort aswell just as much as you.. But we have better composed players than you.

It hurts. But thats the stone cold truth.

Frank has a super power of his likeability which is truly unrivaled.

He can have Everton in the relegation zone on a regular basis, and people still just like him. It's amazing. And as I sad yesterday, the complete dismay the fans are experiencing with the board is extremely to his advantage.

Respectfully, I have never seen so many excuses made for such a sub standard manager. It's a terrible situation for the board because if they sack him, there are still many that see his failings as BECAUSE of them (regardless of any tangible evidence that he can do it elsewhere)

But if they don't sack him, well, we are in the relegation zone and his time at the club has never been exactly stable in terms of point collection.

Here's the mad (and maddening) thing for me: we need someone in here who can organise a defence to get results against decent teams as well as less decent teams. We've all seen Lampard can do that, both last season and this season.

We're effectively in the hunt for a replacement who can do what a manager we already have at the club can do - but who wont do it consistently enough to get us out of trouble.

That's what's broken the back of my support for him. It's outrageous that we haven;t been setting up with the 5 at the back we seen him adopt when he first came in last season that got him a foothold in the job and that he returned to for key games later on last season - a system that also got us an unlikley point against City away. It's a system, btw, that someone like Coady knows so well and plays better in.

Lampard's been the architect of his own downfall here as much as the club's criminal unwillingness to get him a replacement in for Richarlison.

The city game was the blueprint. Changing for Brighton was suicide. They were always going to swarm us if we were open. They are that kind of technical team. And so it proved to be. If an amateur like me can see that but a “professional” like Lampard can’t then we are done for.

Lampard is liked because he's a good human being and someone who is the polar opposite of Koeman and Benitez.

He also has a personality.

Whatever happens to him I will forever be grateful and don't apportion much of the mess on him.

I really don’t know what your underlying point is here, are you suggesting that the board are not failing and it’s solely to do with Lampard that we are where we are?

God no. Board are a mess. Manager is terrible. But fans tendency is to try and pick who is on the good side of a situation, and Lampard has been awarded that.
