2022/23 Frank Lampard

What will happen if the board keep him in place for the Southampton game, we win, and then get convincingly beaten by West Ham? And then Arsenal the week after? It’s entirely plausible. We’d be further adrift from safety than we are now, and the transfer window would be long gone for any replacement manager to bring in players.

They seriously cannot be overseeing this clubs future game by game in the boardroom. It’s madness. Either back him now publicly, or be done with it and give us the best chance to recruit for whoever comes in.

Thats the problem. We have once chance in the next few weeks to recruit some fire power. Given our history of recruitment i have little or no faith. Lampard or anyone else. Teams historically who dont score goals get relegated. There is problems almost everywhere. Creativity in midfield etc. But we can scrap and fight that bit. If nobody is putting the ball in the net we're cooked.

Think we have to be pragmatic and care about an immediate fix because we're facing relegation.

It's a sorry state of affairs as you say, I never would have thought I'd be advocating Sean Dyche as a solution but we could end up doing a Sunderland if we go down.

To me, there's one bloke free who has a history of keeping a team in the league for 7 out of 8 seasons*

*Might need fact checking.
He had 5 players who are still not playing for a club today that were on short contracts and 4 loan players .
And the likes of tarks and Ben mee about to finish there contracts.
Did well to give them any sort of change, and that went when they sold Woods.
He still managed to beat Lampard.
Then again that's nothing to brag about everybody else does as well.
In an ideal world we don't need an manager like him, but needs must.

Seriously they can’t even play the positions they’re meant to play in never mind reverting them to wing backs
Spot on mate.

Play the youth team players who are wing backs, Play price and mills ahead of the crap, busted flush players like Davies, holgate, Keane, etc.
Play simms or cannon with DCL instead of McNeil.

The crap players have had enough chances.

His record is appalling. Like really terrible, as we all know.

But I watch us today and still think the players are playing for him, is it his tactics? Set up?
Or are our players that terrible?
Maybe all 3, dunno. He deserves the sack for his record of course. I just struggle to see past other managers doing better.

Imo, it's a more balanced side than last season, but this season we haven't got Richarlison. It's taking it toll, whether that's on Lampard,, well.
Spot on. I think people are mistaking support for lampard as being happy with his performance. We lost richarlison this season and Calvert lewin has not played. We are fundamentally a much weeker attacking side than the one that narrowly avoided relegation last season. I don't know what manager could come in and make us score more goals, so you would be gambling on whether a defensive manager could grind out survival.

The results are losing him time. But after looking like we had 11 imposters on the pitch vs Brighton, they actually passed off as a half decent footballing side for a lot of that 2nd half. Puts to bed the suggestion that this side can't play decent football. But it's all about consistency and grinding out wins, and more draws.

Unless he can do that, I think unfortunately he will have to go, and it will be deservedly so. I want him to succeed here though, and even if he goes, it should not be ignored how the players are contributing to another manager's ill fate.

Another fact....Lampard hasn’t taken anyone down in all the seasons he’s been a manager.
