Potentially stops other clubs signing him, means it’s not a lump sum pay out. If he takes another job in that period then they stop paying him so potentially save money instead of a lump sum. May well be tax reasons as it means he continues to be salaried over into a new tax year.
It’s fairly common to continue paying managers after being sacked in that way. We have done it with most of ours. Hell, when koeman took the Netherlands job, we had to make up the difference between their wages and what we paid him.

It wasnt until after the burnley defeat that he changed. In our remaining 9 games we won 4 drew 2 and lost 3. This season hes back to his old ways. We lose the first 2. He changes and in our next 10 matches up to palace at home we win 3 draw 4 lose 3. After palace he changes back AGAIN!!! Our results played 8 won 0 drew 2 lost 6. Now there seems to be a pattern here. Frank lampards preferred style is f******* dog s*** and we only pick up points at the times hes played more pragmatic lets say. Results speak for themselves.

Not sure about Potter. I rate him him as a manager but his ideas take a long time to come across. Can we afford him that time with our current squad.
