I think with a striker in we could take something at Leeds...if we get one registered by then.

Probably - if we get that striker - we'll be on 2 points out of 7 games. Losing 19 points from the first 7 games will put us in relegation danger for sure all season.

This manager needs to be making ultimatums to the board right now: provide the funds for a striker or I'll leave.

Its structurally really bad management from bottom down, they learned nothing from last season.

I thought Lampard sent a shot across the bow half jokingly at Press conference on Fri speaking about Gordon: "I dont know if ill be here at the end of the widow".

The lack of striker, is putting huge unnecessary pressure on the likes of Gordon and McNeill - a 21 year old lad and 22 year old new signing.

Go into either tread and to lads are getting hammered, really unfair and unnecessary.

In the interview after the game which MOTD showed he said we need a striker but as he said that he half smiled and had a twinkle in his eye. I am hoping that means he knows who we are getting and that deal is close. Board need to back him, simple as that.

It's D-Day for Lampard. He needs to get what he needs and is calling for or quit.

Brentford (a)
Leeds (a)
Liverpool (h)
Arsenal (a)

Given our away form under Lampard, it’s not unlikely we could be on 1 point after 7 games.
I’m resigned to relegation already. We will as I thought be on potentially 3 points maximum end of August, so looking at those games following make that until end of October.

No because Everton is a bigger club than Newcastle.
Maybe after a couple of relegations we’d be happy enough with someone like Bruce though.
But you're happy with Lampard? Interesting outlook. It's good that you're happy with your self appointed status of being a 'big club' though (IMHO a cringeworthy term whenever used by any fan of any club), a club is only as good as it's present season and incarnation, I'm looking forward to the future.

Just watched the highlights back

Only further strengthened my view that Gordan and Grey are too selfish. If they get to the edge of the box their only view is MUST SHOOT

When there's more often than not the final little slip ball through to put someone 5 yards closer with a better chance of shooting and scoring

They don't ever play it, I would hate to play with them if I was a striker

Said this to my lad at the game mate, all they do when they get in the final third is set themselves up, no looking up to see what's on.

Of course you'll find the term "big club" cringworthy because you aren't one.

He is not doing that Dave no matter how much you might want him to. For starters he will forever be consigned to the pundit panel of MOTD/SKY/BT, and secondly you just know as well as anyone that we would end up with the galoot back here 'holding the fort' in place of him, is that what you really want mate?

I didn’t say either of those things mate, I said Everton are a bigger club than Newcastle (which you know unless you’ve only watched football for six months) and I didn’t mention Lampard anywhere.

For the record I can see what Lampard is trying to do, I like the way he communicates and I think he’ll be a success somewhere and if not here it’ll be because he’s been let down by our recruitment.

We’re awful right now though and you’ll absolutely have a better season than us this year as Howe is doing a stellar job so far.
