2022/23 Frank Lampard

I forgot what Saturday nights are like in here after Everton dont win.

Yes its grim reading

'We will get smashed by Brentford we have no striker'
'No chance we are getting anything from todays game'

We get a draw and its Lampard out! Amazing....

I don’t think it’s Lampard out. Seems like if you criticise our performances people automatically attack you as ‘Lampard Out’.

Before today the one thing I thought was going well was our defensive situation but we were sliced open left right and centre - particularly first half.

I don’t think any blue wants Lampard out, however, I think a lot of us are still waiting to see any signs or reasons why we should be more patient with him than previous managers.

What did you expect this season with the squad we have had available and the complete lack of any sort of useful centre forward?

We're heading to a relegation battle but its got nothing to do with the manager and everything to do with 5 years of chronic mismanagement.

I expected us to compete. The anger is directed at the club and board as much as Lampard - we’re inadequately prepared for the season ahead.

That said, what does anyone see in Lampard that deserves more trust and patience than any other manager (excluding Benitez)?

The reason everyone should be more patient is that the squad is utterly dreadful and totally unbalanced, he had his best player sold, and he had to start top flight matches with either no striker or Rondon.

That's it. I think we have to stop deluding ourselves that constantly changing managers is going to magically start working for us.

No striker or not we’ve been absolutely pish and I won’t hear anyone saying otherwise. My head has absolutely fallen off and I want to trust the process but this is proper muck and this system shows no signing of working - new striker or not.

We've completed in all 4 games so far, but predictably have lost by the odd goal. Our goal difference is -2. We are very competitive but equally very toothless.

We are just totally lacking in attacking quality and will continue to lose lots of tight games unless we find better players in the next 5 days.

We weren't prepared for the season but it was hardly due to the manager.

Yes fair point. It's more just a bit reductive to pick out which points that keep us up, that's all. I'd also say, after that 4 games, we were a poor team. We did better under Lampard. We are now a poor team, who's lost it's best player. So some realism is needed for me.

As for this season, I'm not sure we can generalise too much after 4 games, where we havent got a striker. There probably needs to be a point whereby the manager is judged, but do think he deserves the right to be judged once we get a striker in.

We have already had tricky fixtures really. Chelsea played already. It's funny, last season our points v top 6 v none top 6/7 sides were almost identical. So fixtures are less of a worry than performance.

As for stuff around Derby/Chelsea, not sure the point or relevance to be honest. He stabilised both. Seemed to have money at Derby but not at Chelsea. He did ok.

Hes judged on what he does here though. He completed his mission last season, and honestly 4 games into this just feels far too soon.
Lampard did have money at Chelsea.

He spent £220m on Havertz, Chillwell, Werner, Ziyech and Mendy.

Mendy has been the only success in that list. That is one of the big issues I have with him. Richarlison and Gordon were two of our best players last season. Can we trust Lampard to possibly sell both of them and bring in players that improve us. We have had some garbage signings over the years but Dele Alli has to be right up there with the worst of them.

If he was so useless, why did he do better than Benitez, with no pre season, to keep us up when we looked destined to go down?

It's also not really an excuse to say we dont have an attacker.

Constantly changing the manager is not going to turn around results.

Got 1 more point than him if I remember correctly. Hardly an achievement.
He had an attacker last Yr, what is the excuse?
No your right, employ a competent one and stick with him. So when can get one

The club is in a massive transition on and off the field mate.

What Lampard took over last season was nothing short of abysmal.

He's been hung out to dry by the board for letting him go 4 games into a new PL season without a striker, we have 4/5 new players in the team. We have our number 9 injured and our golden boy wanted by Chelsea.
Its going to take time and he should be given time to do it, in fact it shouldn't even be a discussion about the manager. Yes he should be criticized like everyone else but cut him some slack. He will turn this club around given the opportunity I'm convinced of it

your seeing something different to most of us. not one game yet have we been “battered”

If you could watch todays game against a team in their second season of top flight football boss us and think we’re sound then I don’t know mate.

Fair mate it’s an opinion game. All I’m
Saying is I’ve seen very very little in these four games to say we’ll be sound this season.

No system can work without at least a half decent centre forward. The board are to blame 100% for letting the manager down

I dont trust the process at all. In fact I think our recruitment this summer has been as bad as ever. But the idea that changing the manager will fix things is pretty laughable.

Every manager that gets sacked is another time where the board get let off the hook.
