That's fine, but if an elite manager can't fix us, then maybe, just maybe, the club have far deeper problems than just who sits in the dug out.
Of course we do, everybody is well aware of that. The manager will always take the brunt of the blame for poor results and performances (and vice versa) though, it's the same at every single club in the world, I don't know why people always act like it's some peculiar quirk of our fanbase or board.

There are lots of our fans who will never be happy regardless of who the manager is, because they over estimate how much they know about football.

The idea that managers are the main problem at this club is delusional stuff.
As is the idea that most managers have anything other than the impact the salaries paid to their players would suggest they should have.

While this proven reality - see Soccernomics - suggests the manager is, usually, a fairly unimportant factor in a club's performance, it also makes a mockery of the "Super Frank" calls or the personal investing in a manager's job security.

In the absence of actually reforming the club and its structures, a punter like Moshiri will always fall back on the glamorous managerial gamble. It covers a multitude in the absence of doing actual work. It is this reality that means Lampard's position will likely be in some jeopardy if he fails to pick up three points at the weekend.

I've thought from day 1 this season that we could go down, so I'm not shocked at all how we are performing. This was always a survival season the minute we sold Richarlison and didn't sign any goalscorers.

I've said it many times, anything better than 16th is success this year because I don't believe the squad can realistically compete with these forwards, who are not top flight standard.

We're one of 8-9 teams who will be in it.

We did good work in the summer - on the whole - but left ourselves badly short of quality in the key area: scoring goals.

Maupay is a decent little player but if he plays we cannot play how we do with DCL. McNeil, while I appreciate it's a small initial outlay, was a waste of money.

Because we have changed manager about 5 times in 5 years and every time we have got progressively worse. It's not that complicated.

We've tried every type of manager and they've all failed. Maybe we should allow someone to build something and not lose our nerve every season when we start losing games.

As far as I see it, we have no divine right to stay in this league with this squad and the way we are ran off the field. The only way the manager should be sacked is if we are cut adrift and very likely to go down.

We passed the ball side to side than back to the centrebacks who then passed it back to Pickford to hoff up the field which made a bit of sense when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on the pitch.

We only started putting balls into the box after he went off injured!

We were nowhere near direct enough. Long ball and aggressive football is what we need at Goodison.

I don't think we did the right work in the summer. It was inevitable we would struggle when we didn't replace Richarlison and signed championship level attackers for over £30m.

But I've been there and said all this many times. It gives me know joy to see it all play out like this. We are desperate for the right signing in attack in early January, but how can we possibly have faith they will deliver.

I do love it when you get so passionate about your argument that you forget that nobody's actually arguing with you and just carry on anyway. I don't want us to sack Lampard, I don't think constantly changing managers is a good idea. I can hardly make this clearer. That does not mean that I don't think he should be criticised, and it does not mean that i lose the ability to understand how football works, and that managers are the ones who will be the face of glory or failure regardless of how much of it is actually down to them.
