Player Valuation: £20m
Not sure who Lampard is trying to kid with these post match comments. Every Evertonian knows that the players he picked are, virtually to a man, monstrous wastrels. They always have been and always will be. The club is actively seeking to move most of them on, he's under no obligation at all to play any of them no matter how loudly they knock on his door, which I doubt too many of them are anyway as they know their fates are sealed.
He prioritised one game over another, got a larger than expected beating and is now looking to deflect. He's piled enormous pressure on himself before a game he can ill afford to lose.
I truly hope for Lampard's sake that the regulars come back in against Bournemouth and bail him out. I would hate to see Lampard taken out at this moment, partly because he definitely has unfinished business and I'd like to see him have another transfer window or two, and also because Roberto Martinez is safe as houses to replace him if he goes and time apart has certainly not made my heart grow fonder.
How fitting it would be if the man who started us on the path of learning to live in fear of our premiership lives was the one to come back and put us out of our misery. Poetry.
