Fixed the defence? We’ve just shipped 7 goals in 2 games against Bournemouth. Not Arsenal or Chelsea or City. Bournemouth.
Honestly, we’ve had more than 50% of the ball once all season, allow more shots on goal than any other team in the league, and create a chance about once every three games, and people come on without a hint of irony and say ‘he’s sorted the midfield out though’. It’s a staggering lack of awareness of what’s happening.

Bit of a gap in quality between City's core and ours. Then there's their bench with hundreds of millions and ours with Davies, Dacs, Keane and Rondon. The side put out should not have been rolled over by Bournemouth second string, but clearly it was about keeping the first 11 fresh for "the big one" at the weekend.
Today's result/performance is exactly why we should have fielded our strongest team midweek.
Getting stuffed 4-1 was the worst possible preparation for today and just set the scene for another drubbing.

Seen it happen before. Absolute basics.

I wouldn’t sack him.

We’re still feeling the pinch of the previous summer where we never got a back up for DCL & Richarlison.

Now we’ve basically lost both and Maupay shows more and more like a panic buy.

Don’t think I can see him surviving this though. Players look lost (and not for the first time under a manager), our attacking is so rigid.

But having to start again won’t do us any good.

He absolutely does. But I keep asking people who is the there that is going to do a better job that we could realistically get and nobody is willing to answer me.

I probably agree. I don't rate Lampard at all but there's no long term replacement I could give you who would realistically come. Just hope it doesn't come to the point where we get someone like Dyche in to cling onto being in the league.

Well, that's not a very difficult question. Not that it's the manager I want most, but Sean Dyche had without a doubt done a better job than Lampard, and he is far better qualified. He had taken the job without a doubt.
We've already signed a Burnley CB, a Burnley winger, it wouldn't surprise me if we end up with Chris Wood in January so it's hardly a wild shout to suggest the former Burnely manager who knows the league, knows a relegation battle, lives down the road and is available for free wouldn't be top of the list.

Yeah let's get another manager.
You can never have enough managers..

Dyche would send us down. It's the same thing we're doing now. Defend deep, concede tons of low quality shots and pray you score somehow. The only thing he'd do better is properly lean into and time waste and s-house from minute one.

He’s got to do something though hasn’t he? I mean I totally get that he’s got nothing to work with, but he’s literally employed to find solutions to problems and get the team winning games. We can’t just absolve him of all responsibility for the team failing to score in 5 of our last 6 games.
I totally agree mate, it was a fault that I’ve levied criticism at Benitez for, Silva, Martinez - same formation with it not working.

He has no strikers, which is a major issue, and with those wingers being gash the only real thing he can do is either go 3 at the back, that changes to a 4 when we attack (like Carlo did) and push the wingbacks all the way forward. Or throw cannon (massive massive gamble) in alongside Maupay and go for a diamond
