At some point Gibson will have to be given a chance, if not sell now, or he becomes the next Garbutt. We apparently paid (a total deal) of £6m for him, he is a left footed CB and can cover LB - both of which we need. Not sure what the point of buying these kinds of players is really if they are never given an opportunity - collectively an equal waste of money to some of our one-off panic buys.

...buying highly rated youngsters from other clubs has already proven a financially wise strategy. Low fee means low risk and potentially high reward. Stones, Holgate, Lookman, Branthwaite etc have all arrived via a similar route.

Hoping this turns out to be the Mina situation.

Napoli will only buy him once Kouilabily is sold.. and Arsenal need sell first

As I said mate to another lad - I haven't a scooby what the club could do regarding it but our injury record is consistently one of the worst in the league year in year out and there has to be a reason for it other than "bad luck".

When you have Bolasie rupturing his knee ligament and allowed to try run it off then something isn't quite right.

Im more than aware however that we have a habit of signing crocks which doesnt help our cause but there have been plenty of otherwise normally fit players over the years who have picked up constant niggles or bad lay offs on the training ground etc. in which the stats in comparison to the sides around us in the division dont suggest its a problem shared by most clubs.

"Normally fit" players have been getting injured? That's weird.

Anyway, who are these normally fit players that our medical team have turned into perma-crocks?

Off the top of my head, I'll name the players from the last ten years who could be labelled crocks. I'm not gonna include seriously injured players....

All I can think of is Gibson -D-, Delph, and perhaps Walcott and Pienaar MK2.

Feel free to let me know if any have slipped my mind.

Was more on about normally fit players getting crocked in training

Baines
Barkley
Gbamin

All sufferered 8 week+ lay offs in "routine" training and there are plenty more who have been out for a number of weeks.

...absolutely, Fred. DCL purchased for £1m, I’m sure we’d realise a healthy return on that now. Can’t understand how some posters think this approach is a waste of money.
Stones was a huge profit as would Holgate if we sold him. Almost be enough to counter the money wasted by Koeman.

McCarthy. Besic,

Was a bit critical of brands couple of weeks ago regarding this deal but seeing as its being dragged out and it looks like him/his agents are playing games and pushing for more money, im not bothered we walked away. Same agent as Malcolm apparently, which says it all

One success just blows 4 or 5 failures out of the water doesn't it.

Yeah he seems to have learned. He played the long game the first summer and it worked, he tried it again last summer and it backfired. Glad to see he walked away. Said it for a while, start throwing deadlines to these players to make their mind up and then walk away.
