If you have sown seed or stated cuttings in a unheated greenhouse on a sunny chilly day as they arel lately - ventilation when sunny also damp the floor down with water to create humidity.....
Plus close everything down 1 hour before the sun goes down giving heat protection for the cold night ahead .,.

Remember in the UK season imo 1 month behind ideal time to purchase plugs or sow seed particularly vegetables etc they will soon catch up also lawn seed on patches on your lawn ..
Prepare your multi-purpose compost spray water it let it warm up in your greenhouse the sow.... prick the seedlings into small plugs ready for your veg plot or grow bas later on - adapt your plants to cold air before planting out .....

Right its warmed up in the UK at last - we are a month behind - weed & feed your lawn, cut first let it grow to about 7 cm and apply your weed & feed, but remember to have spare grass seed afterwards as when it has worked you need to water your lawn well once you have sprinkled your weed & feed down evenly ....
All so time to plant all types of plants remember to mix bone meal with a multi -purpose compost at the bottom of the hole & puddle in the plant after planting firmly water well if this hot weather last - remember to harden your plants of for a week outside before planting do not plant them stright out of a poly tunnel or Greenhouse -

Plus still not late to sow vegetables in cycles for all summer usage....

My weed killer is working on the new bamboo shoots mate. Thanks for the tip.

Also, my country meadow flowers are coming on ok. Going to get half a dozen cistus plants as pretty ground cover this week as well. Reckon once taken, the lot will look magic. Keeping a few patches of the grass uncut as well, cos all sorts come through at this time of year, (ex meadow, not a lawn), and there are even what look like lily leaves sprouting now most of the bamboo has gone. We had a few in the pond that was destroyed by the bamboo, so would be amazeballs if so. Deffo not weeds, so will wait and see!

You will be a beekeeper next in retirement with your meadow for wild life - remember to grow you Cistus in pots, so you can either fetch them inside , or keep them sheltered wrapped up in fleece etc in the winter ..... as they are pricey items, & nice ornamental plants that will bear fruit , but ornamental fruit not edible ...... Glad your semi retirement after your wife's setback with health is working out -

I have been changing around my landscaped garden with my wife as the North eastley wind has done a bit of damage - that's what you have to rearrange your garden most times if things don't work out - I try to be a perfectionist I buy my perennials off e bay, or propagate them myself or collect seed of herbaceous perennials.....

Hand full to a square metre, granular is best, avoid the cheap powder..... - do not do it on a windy day as it may kill your broadleaf plants in your borders - water in immediately a good soak - leave it for ten days then sow lawn seen in the patchy areas it leaves after mowing it, using an over sowing with multi purpose compost - avoid cutting the germinated patches ten days after germination of the grass seed.....

Maybe I googled the wrong plant, cos years ago I got one (I think) for a small garden with terrible soil, and it thrived with zero intervention. The flowers were vivid purple, and a bit poppy like, and the greenery spread about 4 feet, stopping anything growing under it.

Cistus looked the same. On google.
