Ok thanks.

I still think he will stay. He gets his game, we are a big club, he likes the manager. It should be enough.

I would be astonished if he didnt sign for us. Unless someone comes in with stupid PSG type wages.

Basically because I cannot see for what reason he wouldnt. His family are up here and settled, he loves the season he has had, loves the way he has been used by RM, and was made to feel really appreciated by not only the manager, but the club as a whole.

It can only be a money issue if he signs elsewhere.

He's probably been appreciated more in the last year than he has in his entire career.

Yep, and positioning himself once he retires. Lets face it, being based in the Northwest, being coached by RM, having ties to City, all point to him being able to network into coaching roles post playing. If thats what he wants to do that is.

Be a shame if he goes elsewhere for the sake of ~10k a week. Can understand it, up to a point, at the end of the day he's a professional doing a job. Still, if he goes then he filled an important role for us for a season and helped bring on McCarthy.

too one footed and slow to be a top class center mid, he's decent like and is smart enough to know what he has to do to be useful for the team, can't say i'm stressing one little bit about him signing, if he wants to sound, if he doesn't whatever

Really hope he signs, like a lot of others I was a bit errrm when he signed, it reminded me a little of how I felt about Alonso for the rs, all my rs mates raved about him but myself I couldn't see it, thought he was average. He then went to RM who's games I try to watch, and it's only by watching him at RM that you appreciate how good he is. For me it's the same with Barry you don't appreciate how good he is until he plays for you.

I can see us offering him a 2 year deal to take him to 35, especially as there is no fee involved. I'd be surprised if a Premier League club would offer much better terms than us and, even if they did, would he have the same football satisfaction? I'd imagine that he's weighing up whether to see out his career abroad.

Although we have been reducing our wage bill recently and the club might decide that we'd be better served with Gibson and a younger player like Rodwell, Cleverley or Coulbeck to partner McCarthy.
