Can't blame a once "decent" (no more than that) midfielder for getting old now that McCarthy's not there to do his running. Blame the gonk that gave him a three year contract extension.

Watch the Newcastle highlights. I think it's when McCarthy hacks down Sissoko. Barry makes absolutely no attempt to track his runner (Sissoko) who just jogs past him. Honestly the most sickening thing I've seen all season.

Was always the danger of signing him on long term deal, last season he had a contract to play for now he's got his 3 year deal the hungers gone.

Playing an in form 34yr old every game is bad enough, but he's shot to pieces at the moment and he's playing every single minute of every single game. Incredible.

Distin has been slowly regressing for around 18 months, so that comes as no big surprise, but Barry was outstanding last season - now he's a liability.

Hadn't gone to looking like a League 2 standard player like this season though. He had gone back a bit but this year he has dropped off a cliff.

Giving him and Howard such massive contracts was madness. I think Barry is still a good squad player but it's all about slowly getting Besic up to speed. Playing every game at his age is crazy.

I dont think he's fully fit, or playing with a knock but hes being forced to play due to a lack of other options. There is no way he can deteriorate that much from May to August/September.
