Not really just that reports had us paying a fee of 2 million for a free agent, and the 3 years wages - I would be made up now if we can muster the funds for Lukaku as he is a better investment imo!
BK must have more funds if we are to maintain the same level Lukaku would be a big miss!

Meant those slagging him off for supposedly signing for West Ham etc

can I ask, when did 36 become too old to be a footballer ?,good players the world over played to that age and beyond didn't they ?.It's not like he will need to be running 100 kmh where he plays, ageism lads ageism .........Gareth mate, the oldies thread is in the ale house !.
Agree, Klose is 36 I think and he starts in the national team and still scores. Stubbs and Weir were like 65 when they stopped playing as our CD's... ;-P

Why are people so concerned about giving him a 3 year contract?

He's slow, Javi Garcia slow so he won't lose any pace.
David Weir captained The Rangers to a Uefa Cup Final at 40.
Ryan Giggs in his mid 30's was boss.
Pirlo's still boss at 35.

Also, we all think that Distin is boss, and I think he's already older than Barry will be after his contract ends.

33 isn't really old old for a DM though, is it? When you've got James McCarthy next to you, bombing around for 90 mins isn't going to be necessary really is it? Look at Gerrard & Henderson at the rs.

Pleased its a done deal now, was such a key part of the team last season, you know what your getting with Gaz Baz. The games he missed last season he was noticed more by his absence I think (prob could have worded that better but hopefully makes sense).

Hopefully Rom will follow in his footsteps, then I reckon we'd need to add a left winger and an attacking midfielder, then anything after that a bonus!

I'm 33 and I'm still lightning quick.

You old sod.

I'm 22, have a bad back from falling at school, my oldest can out run me, I drink too much alcohol, I've still got a cough from smoking a joint on Sunday night when drunk, I have a roll and fried egg every morning before my work and my favorite dinner is a Fray Bentos pie with chips, beans and lashings off brown sauce.

Sign me up Kenwrong.

Yep, look how crap they were at the WC and Hodgson wants to keep them on, Barry could not have been as bad as them surely but toally ignored by Hodgson. Damn it the noodle even gave Osman a couple of caps what does that say for his judgement.

PS Read in the paper today that Roberto had to go to BK to make it clear how vital barry was to the team and squeezed the fee out of him.

Part of Roberto's 5 year plan
Bringing through all these talented youngster requires experienced, winning heads in the playing staff.
Not to dismiss the likes of Jags, Howard, Distin, Pienaar, etc, but Barry is in a league of his own ITO British players with these attributes.
He won "best trainer" last season. Has more than 50 international caps. Played more than 500 Premier League games. Won the League and the Cup. He's a fantastic player to have tied down for the next 3 years. Brilliant for all the youngsters.
Oh, he's also a top top footballer.
