Its nothing to do with anything other than passion, not 1 player on that pitch showed any.

They all have the talent, we see it week in, week out from MOST of those players.

No passion from the players, fake passion from the clueless Manager, who I doubt has ever played 4-4-2 in his whole career, why did he start now? How many frigging teams play 4-4-2 these days?
Could you finally make your mind? First you are saying that it was all about passion (or lack of), and then you are saying that 4-4-2 is outdated, pointing out things totally different than passion.
And Capello's teams were playing 4-4-2 plenty of times during his career.
But today he got all wrong - 2 England players had to combat 3 Germans in the middle, with Germans being superior technically and athletically. Suicidal.

And Trevor Brooking is a disgrace - he recently was qouted, that he doesn't understand why younger players should practicing on smaller pitches. Idiot. Maybe he will understand it after today's massacre.

NAH. I'm not accepting this. At all youth levels - we've been at comparable levels winners or finalists to any other league.

U17 championship winners. Wasn't Rodwell a losing finalist in 2007 too.

2009 U21 european championship finalists ...

Its just how its being applied at senior level.

You're not reading it, Matt. I said the tempo of the Premier League is the problem: it grinds into pulp all the things learned at an earlier age. It's good entertainment, but not winning football at this level.

I didn't expect a lot really, certainly better than that, but not a lot. England have always been about being solid at the back, dominant in the air and never out of position. Our defence at the moment is terrible. I wouldn't expect us to outscore teams that have been technically better than us for generation after generation, we always going to get beaten if we are poor defensively.

I think it says something when the player that's most comfortable on the ball is our left back.

How do you explain the champions league winners then at club level? Its not all down to foreign players.

Nah its just bollocks they never really played above average this tournament.

I want an Englishman with experience in. And enough of these £150,000 nomarks like Johnson.

It pretty much is about the foreign players in the EPL. The English cannot play football at a high level. Many foreigners can. Anyway, bring on Argentina - Mexico so we can see some decent ball players.

The PL teams competing in the CL are mostly non-English and can adapt their game to the European stage, and when they go back to their national squads they have no problem in fitting snugly in amongst like minded players. No problem. The handful of English players in that class just revert to type and fall into the brain dead 'get it forward at all costs' PL approach (although Ashley Cole, it has to be said, doesn't let himself down too often).

Lampard's 'goa'l from the linesman's view:

It's not all about the foreign players, English players do bring a balance that makes the League what it is, fast, exciting, end to end but we good ability mixed into it. But it's the other side of the game which English players struggle with, there's no doubt about it.

International football is geared towards composure, discipline and intelligence. When they aren't around there foreign buddies (more than not the more technical players in the team) they struggle.

This England team isn't awful but people are deluding themselves if they think it's close to the top teams in the World. The talent of these players is massively overhyped, and it's no surprise that people put it down to a lack of effort or passion, it sums it up really.

Nothing but newspaper inches gained from this World Cup, Terry, Gerrard Rooney - 3 of Englands most talented ( if you believe the media ) and the ancient ' England expects... ' - well, not really? I for one did not expect much more than a mediocre performance from the England side - which they delivered so efficiently.

As far as managers go, Rafael is available. Admittedly if there is one thing he does well in is cup competetions :)

God I hope the FA takes Hodgson, the thought of him leading that odious squad makes me physically ill.
