AC\DC would surely be on the radar. Not my thing like but not many bigger acts than them.

They are basically Angus Young these days. With a slight possibility that Brian Johnsons doctor would agree to him doing it. I mean the whole show is Angus focused anyrate, and plenty of drummers and guitarists could deliver the rhythm section, so if Johnson was given the ok they would look and sound like AC/DC.

New Order is a great shout tbf. Think they'd need to get Hook back on board though. They have the Joy Division catalogue to fall back on too which is probably better than their own stuff IMO. Great live too.
They played the other headline stage the same night everyone seemed to go to see Adele. And Hook ain't coming back ever, to the point he made a big song n dance of selling his guitars that were specific to those times as some act of closure.

Did you catch Peter Hook and the Light at Isle of Wight recently?

I mean, Hooky doesn't have Ian or Bernard's voice but he put on a great set for 90 minutes doing all the old Joy Divsion and New Order classics.

Getting Hook back with New Order again has to be the Holy Grail....unlikely, but it'll happen before Waters and Gilmour ever get back together!
Yeah i did see it Dave. Very good set. Love the Joy Division and early New Order stuff.

There is a massive thing missing in that crowd that blights EVERYthing today.

Mobile phones.

People went to gigs to actually watch them back in the day. I get the feeling that many people go to Glastonbury to say they have been there these days.

God I'm old.
Every facet of life has been infected, can be useful, often very much not. It is phones and the internet that has evolved the modern stage, once bands would tour, especially new starters, working the universities and small venues building up some following. That journey, those difficult gigs, learning to work an audience, more expectation, living on the road, new material, bigger venues, festival scene - I get the impression that's all somewhat old hat now, a couple of uploads onto tik tok, some remix by some bellend somewhere and then suddenly they're the new jesus christ. Acts that have toured and can deliver a show in full and live up to the big venue and not be overawed are rare, rare cos the talent needed to get there isn't easy to find and harness, and keeping the show on the road to get to the megabucks is also difficult. I blame the yoof, here today gone tomorrow can't even remember the name wastrels. Oh yea oh yea but how many views did it get on youtube....

Stick a flat cap on any jobbing pub-singer and it gives you what Brian Johnson would; as long as Angus is on form then it's fine.

Was dragged to a Sam Fender gig at Newcastle (absolute nauseating Geordie snore fest) and he came on. Couldn’t make any words out as he was just shouting. Still was better than Sam Fender. Weird bunch them geordies.

Pretty much. Thats one of the reasons I loved them from their early days, (before they were cool). Essentially a jobbing pub band. There are no doubt plenty of tribute band singers who could do a decent job.

AC/DC and Angus at Glasto would be awesome. The place would go absolutely nuts.

Couldnt agree more.

Also I think modern technology has effected music pretty badly from an artistic stand point.

Back in the day is something affected you enough those inclined to do so would try and find a way to release that anger/joy etc. A good way would be to write it down, stew over it, write a song or a poem or whatever and put some craft into it now you can just blert your feelings out online in 140 words or less (or whatever it is these days) nothing is able to brew and any idiot can do it before it disappears into the ether.

Things can get dismissed so easily too. If you fancied listening to an artist you would buy an album or a single or go round to a mates to listen to it, make your own mind up deciphering lyrics etc and you would feel obliged to do so as you have gone out of your way to listen to it. Now all you need to do is play 30 seconds on youtube and if it doesnt grab you then you can just listen to the next one from billions of songs. Albums used to be growers, now its pretty much a one and done scenario.

I get times have changed but its pretty grim. I actually feel kind of sorry for kids/teens these days, they never seem to be having any fun.

The cure is also the disease, face down into a phone oblivious.
Yup, I wonder if any of them realize that they can actually call people on them? Maybe make plans to actually go out etc?

Its not just kids to be fair, my sister who is in her 50's is terrible for it. I am always tempted to knock her phone out of her hand but then I'll be deemed as the "weird one".

I mean I am, but still...

There`s more chance of getting Hook back on board, then Waters and Gilmour ever settling their differences.

Periodically Hook and Sumner make up, play a few gigs and then fall out again lol

Compare a modern Metallica concert to this, night and day difference. Im not even a Metallica fan either but saw them with a friend a few years back and it just lacked intensity. I can't think of many bands who kick ass live more in their older years than when they were younguns.

To be fair this is one of the most legendary sets ever

Wasn't that like the biggest gig/crowd ever though.. Until I think a concert in Rio beat it?

TBF, Hooky comes across as a feller you'd want to put a mile or two distance between yourself and him.
