True though.

So many great modern day bands and artists who can headline Glastonbury with a great set.

But the crowd these days seems to be a lot more casual so we’re given people like elton John so the crowd can sing to the songs they’ve heard on the radio.

Has a career spanning 50 years yet had a set which was near enough exclusively songs from the 70/80s.

Shame to me to see the festival become so watered down.

Would have much preferred to see somebody like yeah yeah yeahs headline and 20 years ago they would have been.

They just want the big names now for the Tv crowd and casual Glastonbury crowd.

How are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs a modern artist that might headline a Glastonbury?

How aren’t they? Go and look at who’s headlined in the past.

That’s my point 20 years ago a band like the yeah yeah yeahs would have been the headline.

Now it’s just whoever the biggest star available is so we can all sing along.

Makes for a worse festival imo. Should go back to more guitar bands, or newer artists instead of getting people on to sing the hits.

Aren't they almost 20 years in as a band? Wouldn't really class that as modern.

I'm talking modern as in asking Justin Bieber to headline a festival.

But just to point out, many people love singing along to hits.

If you look at some of the 90's headliners, they wouldn't be that out of place there

No chance now, which is probably the point charro is trying to make

I think he, and possibly you, aren't understanding my post. I'm talking properly modern artists being crap that might headline. The Bieber's, Dua Lipa's, One Direction's of this world.

I didn't read your post tbh lol although Dua Lipa is meant to be very good live

I'd like Rosalia headlining just for people's reaction to the majority of songs being in Spanish, and she'd be great

Dua lipa would be great.

Harry styles, Taylor swift, if you wanna go back further lady gaga would be brilliant.

My original post:

I like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs but I don't class them as modern day music.

I think a lot of modern pop is actually a lot better live than it used to be. Especially the solo people, many can play multiple instruments these days

People like Travis Scott give a lot of pop stars a bad look, as he and a few others who are similar, are atrocious
