Has to be some sort of compromise soon surely, gonna be a bit crap seeing half strength fields as the norm.

Hit my first 90 today. Awaits the call from LIV…………….
That is a great milestone. That was my original goal when I started playing regularly about 15 years ago.
I hit that one pretty early. Took me until about a year and a half ago to break 80. For several years my best was 80. The mental midget in me couldn't get past it because I always knew exactly where I stood and always crumbled under the pressure I put on myself.
I pulled a 76 out of my backside to finally crash through that glass ceiling. The biggest difference on that round is I just kept score each hole. I knew I had a good round going but I had no idea it was that good. Finishing with three straight birdies didn't hurt.

Mad game, golf.
I shot 90 as my first score breaking 100 and I went out in 40. The lads I was playing with couldn’t believe it as I was regularly shooting 101-110, prior to then.
Took me another few weeks to break 100 again after that, I played the day after and shot 105.
I shot 78 a while ago, that’s my best ever, I regularly shoot mid to late 80s now. The lads I play with are single figure handicappers and the main difference is all around the greens. I’ll get there in 2, then regularly take 3 shots whereas they’ll get up and down if within 50 yards.
Again 78 is excellent mate well done. I bought a cheap set of clubs to start and I find using a better putter massively helps around the greens. One of the lads I play with has an Odyssey 2 ball and the better weighting of it makes a massive difference to the pitch and put style one I have in my bag
Better gear defo helps, my putter is about 15 years old, I bought it off eBay years ago for £30 and like it so I’ve never upgraded.
I did notice a difference when I upgraded my irons and driver. I originally had some cheap ones off eBay then upgraded once I got down to about 23 handicap.
I have basic Slazenger irons and driver. I find the more expensive the driver the more forgiving it is, same with the putter. Maybe it’s cos I’m alright with my irons I always think they don’t really make a difference
Not worth replacing them if you’re doing well with them, mate.
I agree mate, I’m thinking Of getting one of those PXG 0211 drivers. Some driver for £200
Well, he’s gone. The next Ryder Cup teams will be unrecognisable at this rate, on both sides.Be a shame if Stenson accepts the LIV $sss, always liked him as a golfer and he has a great sense of humour!
Going to be a tough one for him if he has to resign the Ryder Cup captaincy but no doubt the Saudi $ will ease the disappointment!
Nice, I had a 12 year old Ping driver for years. I upgraded it a few weeks back for a TS2 and it's great, definitely more forgiving as it has more technology in it. Bought it refurbished for £220, whereas you can't get a new driver now for much less than £500, ridiculous price really.
Funnily enough the reviews I’ve seen on the PXG compare it to the Ping G425 which is about £450. My friend has a Taylormade Sim 2 and like you say the technology in them is so much more forgiving. It’s harder to hit a bad shot with them. Now you’ve mentioned refurbished though I might actually have a look at the Ping, where about did you get yours from mate?
Be worth checking out what flexibility in the shaft suits you best at the moment before you “invest”! A quick trip to somewhere like American Golf should give you an idea - doesn’t necessarily mean you have to buy it off them!I agree mate, I’m thinking Of getting one of those PXG 0211 drivers.
