Maddison's the kind of guy where if you were his gym buddy, he'd get you in superb shape, but every set would be "YOU CAN DO MORE YOU [Poor language removed]", whilst you're thinking to yourself "I'm an effing mouse, just let me go home!".

Not good that mate

We all do it though so don't beat yourself up over it. Just gotta figure out what your short term and long term goals actually are.... try not to set the bar too high lad.

Why do think you lost the motivation? Maybe it was the 4-6 sessions a week.... too much?? Could be wearing you down and burning you out.

Could well be low testosterone levels..?
I've not been training that well myself lately, and I've actually had quite an easy week. Quite probably I need to get more sleep at night as I've been finding myself taking naps which normally doesn't happen.

Has anyone here ever had a metabolic assessment test?

Seriously thinking about having one done. They seem to cost around £150-£200, so not cheap, but I reckon the data I get back will be very useful and much more precise than the guesstimates that the usual weekend warrior has to try to piece together.

So I booked myself in for a full metabolic assessment test this Thursday.

It's going to set me back £150, but I figure that when I'm probably spending 20hrs a week training, it's actually a very small price to pay in order to have solid numbers to work off for the next 12-13 weeks of my training programme.
Will post here when I have the results and have had some time to analyze it.

Hmm this is very interesting.

Metabolic testing is a waste of money

Spend it on some rub downs to recover from training or go and see a strength and conditioning coach to help you get in better shape for cycling.

Do you do any mobility training?

And anyone thinking of starting to lift weights should learn to move their own bodyweight first.

Press ups
Chin ups
Dips
Horizontal pull ups
Squats
Single leg deadlfits

Wowza, 20 hours training a week is some serious volume. Is that all spent skating?

Did a good, strong tempo session today to round off the month. 1,320km or so done this month, which is a record. Should hopefully give a good base to build on from here.

I wouldn't ask anyone to do anything I wouldn't do my self, in fact I don't ask anyone to do what I do my self. Generally speaking I don't tell people they can do more, I just slap them and scream at them. It tends to work.

@maddison wouldn't even have to say stuff. He'd just stand there in his all in one lycra holding a stop watch and nodding his head while raising his eyebrows urging two reps more.

That how he rolls.

Wtf? It's old scruffs and a pair of Oly shoes, or wrestling boots if deadlifting.

Who is maddison...

Hulk like?

Lou Ferrigno was a bodybuilder. He weighted roughly 140-150kg at his peak in the off season. By contrast Mike Bridges competed as a powerlifter, weighed 82.5kg and outlifted the Hulk! The Hulk was a [Poor language removed], all show and no go :p

Although my favourite lifter is still either Ed Coan or Oleksander Kutcher

You have far too much disposable income!
