5 10. About that. Quite stocky as well. Not quite Tony Cottee, but that frame like stretched a bit.

The bloke I cycle with was a bit like that. When we went to Italy last year he was 68kg (just under 11st), and I reckon he must be 6'1 or 2 (there abouts). He's pretty tall and was really lean.

Badminton is a good sport to pick up. It's fun, it doesn't take long to get alright at it, it's indoors so can be done in any weather, and you don't have to do as much running as in Tennis.

That's a good shout. Cracking workout too. That and squash. Swimming can also be a good workout, but you've got to actually give it some. Pottering about doing breastroke whilst having a natter isn't much use.

Squash is great shout. It's dead easy to practice on your own too. The only problem with squash is you've just got to make sure you don't crash in to each other! Got a knee to the back of the head once, haha.

If you join these clubs for example badminton, will there be players to play with as I will be joining alone.

My mum plays badminton with a few older ladies (60+) once a week in a church hall nearby, which is absolutely ideal. So there might be similar set ups where you are? Not sure where you'd find out that kind of information though to be honest. I guess a quick Google might give you an idea though.

Bit of a left field alternative, but clubbing can also be a great workout. When I was young, we'd often go out and dance for several hours. Was a cracking bit of exercise. It's usually spoilt (in terms of fitness) by the booze and junk food, but if you can do it without those...

Of course, you can also do regular dancing. It's popular these days with Strictly and all that, and most places do it so you can turn up on your own and rotate partners through the night.

I'm just under 5' 10 and my "fighting weight" when fully fit is never less than 80kg - currently over that, but over the summer will get back to 81-82 kg. At that weight not much fat on me...

Is right.

Guessing you need to be pretty lean and mean for climbing? Do you do cross country skiing as well as downhill? Those guys tend to be insanely fit. They have a big 50km race in the town where my other half grew up.

Ideally lean and mean, although it is such a technical sport, technique and flexiblity are far more important.

Only ever messed about with cross country skiing, much prefer the aid of gravity, but you are correct they are insanely fit.

Fwiw I am probably the least fit I have ever been currently. Too much travelling and eating, need to get back into shape!

12.5 stone (80kg) and 6'1" here. Would like to get back up to 13 if I can. I'm also one of those people who doesn't seem to put weight on.

yeh, but aren't you terribly young, like a mere pup? There's plenty of us who had bulletproof metabolisms in our youths, but become more insulin sensitive and found ourselves putting on weight (ie fat) as we moved into our 20s, 30s, or sometimes even later, on the standard western diet.

I have been regularly monitoring my blood glucose levels in the last month or so (yes I want to quantify and put numbers on absolutely everything!), and it's now very clear to me that I am incredibly insulin sensitive. A normal range would be around 4.0 - 5.8 (mmol/ltr); I find that even something like a spoonful of normal sugar or honey will send my blood glucose levels through the roof to 9.0 or above. With this in hindsight, it's very clear that a low carb diet has been extremely beneficial to me.

I realise I am a jammie sod reading this. Stayed at about 11st for ever. Not an ounce of fat on me, and have never properly exercised, like in a gym or jogging and that. Played tons of football, walked the dog for about 4 miles a day until he carked it a few years back, and use to cycle a bit a few years ago just for fun.

Sorry.

That's all good exercise mate. A lot of it just as effective as going the gym.
