Green light for the Super League?

Have the RS said anything yet? All I saw was that they weren’t planning to make any statement (likely waiting to see how it goes down in public first and then they will eventually begrudgingly rule themselves out of it)

Pearce in the Athletic claims out but nothing official as far as I can see.

With a few of the big guns passing at this point, if I was in charge of that tournament, I'd contact Celtic, Rangers, Ajax, Porto, Benfica, any clubs in real financial difficulty, those in a boring 2 team league, maybe also a few clubs further down the food chain in various other leagues who are often ECL first round cannon fodder. Then, to each club I'd offer them enough bunce to sign Haaland and whoever else the fook they wanted. Like with Liv golf, once it's underway the rest will defo cave in.

I have had a few, like.

Let them go this time. Sick of hearing about it.

I suspect within 3-4 years the players and fans will get bored of the same 19 matches with no threat of relegation. They’ll likely try and worm their way back in once the realisation hits.

I could be wildly wrong, though.
Don't over estimate the draw of the yo yo teams. American sports do just fine without the threat of relegation. I like the colour of the full english football pyramud, but gloryhunters are a different audience.

Exactly, for me the beginning of the end for football was Italia 90 which made football trendy, led to Sky and the FA, along with clubs like Everton setting up the Premier League and ruining the meritocracy that we'd had ever since the football league was established.
Let's be honest, the beginning of the end was Heysel.

Lost in all the headlines and clubs making announcements of fealty, is the acknowledgement that UEFA & FIFA were found to be monopolies and in breach of open competition

From there, we’ll see what it leads to because a monopoly is never good for anyone

See Arsenal and RS haven't mentioned not rejecting The Super League.

All it takes is 1 club to disagree with UEFA and be given a billion and they'll all go clambering

Could this not be used by Chelsea and City as leverage against the Premier Leagues FFP points deduction. In other words 'Do An Everton To Us' and we'll be off !!! Alternatively by the time they get round to City's 115 charges, potentially that could be in 3 years time , City could be long gone and laughing at the corrupt PL ??

Like they're not doing that already?

Agree its not but this new competition in it original form was basically another monopoly. All the big rich teams stayed in it every season regardless, hoovered up most of the the money generated and a few lesser clubs fought over scraps and a seat at their table.

The competition itself was a joke.

Would personally love Everton to get involved in this. Why? Because UEFA competitions are out of our reach for years anyway and that's even if we play our cards right. This would bring in substantial amounts of money and would benefit us massively in terms of making a shot for the Premier League.

What's the alternative for the likes of us? Continue to be a nothing football club that deems success to be survival and getting a point away at the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea?

It's clear now the top UEFA teams have distanced themselves from this, so we should be in with a very strong chance if we show interest.
