Green light for the Super League?

Lost in all the headlines and clubs making announcements of fealty, is the acknowledgement that UEFA & FIFA were found to be monopolies and in breach of open competition

From there, we’ll see what it leads to because a monopoly is never good for anyone
True. But the duopoly of Real Madrid and Barcelona - two of the most corrupt and utterly self-serving clubs in world football - is even worse. UEFA, at least, have to give lip service to the pyramid and look after the game as a whole. Real and Barca simply want to line their own pockets and to hell with the rest.

I've no sympathy for the Ugly Sisters of Spanish football. They have sold their souls for money and have reached their ceiling. They have spent decades undermining the rest of the Spanish league by awarding themselves the vast majority of TV money, screwing the rest, and wondering then why the others are not serious rivals to them in the way that 6 or 7 clubs in England make that league compelling by comparison. I have sympathy for the big clubs in small TV markets who are unable to compete with the Big 5 League clubs simply by dint of an accident of geography. But Perez and Laporta are mafiosi.

In the end, we will have the usual compromise which gives the "big clubs" more of what they want while UEFA remain the organisers.

I know the clubs are saying no but I think secretly they’re saying yes, why would Barca and RM carry on if they were getting no off the other teams. Juve will probably join shortly

They are desperate, they've built up massive debts to try and compete with the Premier League clubs despite the disparity in revenues and both have effectively gone bankrupt. If the English clubs have any sense they'll stay well away, but greed is a powerful force.

So.. from what I've read so far it's Real, Barca & Napoli.

Seen a load of other top clubs around Europe say no.. so where do Perez & Co go from here?

Makes no sense for the PL clubs to join this to me. The PL is the richest competition in the world, why would they prop up other clubs in other leagues financially, while putting the PL in jeopardy?

With a few of the big guns passing at this point, if I was in charge of that tournament, I'd contact Celtic, Rangers, Ajax, Porto, Benfica, any clubs in real financial difficulty, those in a boring 2 team league, maybe also a few clubs further down the food chain in various other leagues who are often ECL first round cannon fodder. Then, to each club I'd offer them enough bunce to sign Haaland and whoever else the fook they wanted. Like with Liv golf, once it's underway the rest will defo cave in.

I have had a few, like.

Like Spain and Germany?
