Green light for the Super League?

It’s the most lucrative league in the world.

It actually exists, and isn’t an endless daydream that will never happen.

But more importantly, football fans NEED to have a domestic league, especially in England.

Even the Chelsea Tory boys were dead set against the daydream, as they realised that their club would literally become a global franchise, where ‘Chelsea’ will be paying ‘Real Madrid’ at a ‘home match’ in Bangkok at 3 o’clock in the morning. Nobody wants that, especially if it comes at the expense of your domestic league!

If it came to it, which it won’t, the other Premier League clubs would also be able to go their own way and start their own league if necessary.

I'd quite happily replace Liverpool and Manchester United with Celtic and Rangers tbh, and I think Everton v Rangers at BMD will be far more entertaining than Chelsea v Madrid in Bangkok!

Aberdeen could replace Spurs, and Hibs and Hearts could replace Arsenal and City. Maybe we could offer a place to University College Dublin, they’d soon grow into a juggernaut with PL money.

I hold the opinion that the Sky Six need the PL more than the PL needs the Sky Six, but it’s all a load of nonsense that isn’t going to happen anyway imo.

Why would the owners of those clubs have any interest whatsoever in staying in the Premier League if they were in the Super League? What would be in it for them? They literally only care about money.

The original plan was that the Super League would replace the Champions league, basically. Midweek games in the Super League and weekend games in the domestic leagues. I guess the benefit is that you keep the as they called them "legacy fans" sweet, keep the brand out there as the super league would be less games. They'd also effectively be able to use the prem as a way to use their whole squad and keep fringe players sharp by playing a good level of footy on a regular basis.

It's all very sickening like.

I don't know what you're talking about Mike.

I mean it couldn’t be any simpler could it.

The Super League would be a 20 team league. The Premier League is a 20 team league. That’s 76 fixtures when you add the two together. That’s not really hard to understand is it?

They need the Premier League, the Premier League needs them, and although most traditional football fans might agree that going back to what football used to be like would be the best outcome, the other clubs need them as well. It's all about the money.
not true. would you stop watching Everton games if the scum 6 left?

With the addition of an extra league (the word super is just advertising speak to hide boring repetitive fixtures against the same Harlem Globetrotter teams every year), i can just hear the rs victims bemoaning that they have too many fixtures for their 3 sqyads, and that the prem should bend to accommodate their pursuit of success.

They had no intention of leaving the Premier League. Are you saying they did?

I asked you a question as to why the club’s owners would be interested in staying in the Premier League? How would they make money from it? The money they’re guaranteed every year from just being in the Super League would probably be 5x what you’d get in prize money for winning the Prem. It would be absolutely pointless from a financial perspective for them to remain. Don’t act like they give two hoots about the “legacy fans” either.
