Groucho's Fact Hunt

War accelerates technical development and The Spitfire was no exception, it was a bit like Lincolns axe, it had 5 new heads and 3 new handles but it was still 'the same one he had for 25yrs.'

Probably true as between them and you is a lot of water and flat countries, and the Urals are pretty high. I once heard a rumour that If you stood on the roof of a certain building in East anglia, you can see the Ural mountains on a very clear day. Don't know how true that is though.

Could be true - Northern European plain is flat and massive.

Reckon you'd need sharp eyes to see Russia from Norwich ??

Not a chance that's true. (unless your a flat Earther)

The Urals are probably 2000 miles away from the UK. Even when flying in an airliner you can only see out to about 250 miles.

Ireland has decreed that Subway's bread is not bread.

In order for bread to be considered a staple food in Ireland, it has to have less sugar than 2% of the weight of its flour. Subway bread has five times that amount, making it an "indulgence food" or baked good.
I seem to remember that the ingredients of Subway bread classified it as a cake and not a bread.

Plus the fact it went hard and not mouldy when stale further backed that up...

This is great one, used to be really into the baseball, around the time New York Yankess were amazing, also when Oakland A"s had that Moneyball season, I never missed it, and I didnt know this until recently.
If you play for the Yankees your not allowed to grow a beard.
Owner George Steinbrenner banned it in 1973, a rule they still have in place today
